After nearly three decades in the United States and even longer in Europe the "people's car" the Volkswagen Beetle reached the end of its remarkable history in 1979. The creator of the entire compact car movement and an icon of culture - both mainstream and counter - the Volkswagen's evolution mirrored the massive changes in the American auto industry as it went from basic transportation in its original 1100 cc split rear window 24 horsepower 1946 form through various upgraded trim levels a...nd higher output engines peaking at 65hp in the late 1960s. 1971 even brought a name change as VW's product line expanded and the Beetle nickname became the model's formal title. We are pleased to present this final version of the Beetle/Bug/Slugbug/Herbie or whatever you remember these being called. In '79 only convertibles were produced and very few remain on the road that are in good condition and not rusted away or have excessive miles on them. The last two owners were from California before coming to us from the last owner out of Illinois. Vehicle has been cared for nicely and the following items were done in the past year; new carpet kit in car and front bonnet new convertible top new tires fluids changed new convertible boot top new door panels and new Bug floor mats. The owner prior had the car painted in the factory correct pain about 8yrs ago along with new moldings and seals. Vehicle runs nicely and all lights seem to be functioning properly along with the heater. The very rare factory A/C is still hooked up but will need some attention to get it to blow ice cold. Finding a nice low mileage Beetle is very difficult at a fair price and this one is priced right and has the unique features that will continue to hold its value well. Vehicle comes with a binder full of service and parts receipts two work manuals and two keys. We highly recommend any love child to jump quickly on this one as the time of year is right and life is too short to drive a boring car!
