This 1963 VW Sunroof Beetle is an excellent example of an original car which has obviously been meticulouslymaintained. With the average car's lifespan being about a dozen years and the attrition rate of lower-priced modelsoften accelerated by careless juvenile second-hand owners, it'd be a nice surprise to find an example of the speciesthat, despite being over 50 years old, still shines and sparkles like a late-model.I have owned this car for over 25 years, and I am the 2nd owner. I did a complete restoration 12 years ago. This was a Texas car withvirtually no rust and the body had never been damaged. It was completely dismantled with all body componentspainted both front and back, inside the doors, quarter panels,etc.. The heater vents, the dash, the glove box & door, everything looks almost as good today as when built over 50 years ago. This car has the original floor pans that are in excellent condition! The interior was completely rebuilt with newseat padding and utilizing the original style two tone door panel and seat cover scheme. Under the front hoodcompartment you'll find all the important bits: spare tire on it's original rim, tire jack, lug wrench and original tools. This VW has been an excellent show car and daily driver for the past 12 years winning many trophies. Through timeit has developed a few flaws, needing a new headliner, which is furnished with the car as well as needing some touchup painting to the bottom of the doors. Almost a gallon of the original acrylic enamel is also suppliedwith this vehicle for any painting. The original 40HP engine has been recently replaced with a dual port 1600cc and has been upgraded to a 12 voltelectrical system utilizing a built in regulator style alternator. The engine is newly rebuilt with less than 500 miles. Itfeatures an align bored case, and almost all new engine components including new crankshaft, new camshaft, newpistons and cylinders, all new bearings, new lifters, and rebuilt heads. It has stock compression for longevity and runsgreat. The chassis was rebuilt with all new components including all new brake and suspension items including mastercylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines and hoses and new king pins, link pins, and tie rod ends.
