Description of 1963 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic US export model 117 |
Very nice - not perfect - but very nice '63 VW ragtop. Original New Mexico car; sold new in Albuquerque. Fresh Turkis (L-380) paint with correct Como green running boards and fender beading. Paint shows nicely with a couple of very minor blemishes, but no dents or dings. All new rubbers. Original VW glass except new windshield. Wolfsburg West bumpers & headlights. Original Hella taillights. Does need driver's side mirror replaced (I have the parts). This car has never been cobbled up; a solid car to begin with - no signs of major collision damage or rust out All sheet metal original to this car except front bonnet. (Heater is not in working order- needs cables and flaps). Everything else works: lights, horn, signals, etc. Complete, correct (silver beige K-357) TMI interior with correct headliner (374B) and correct mats with graphite square weave carpet. New quality repro steering wheel & radio blanking plate. Lap belts, front & rear. New top - the sunroof works flawlessly. Still 6 volt with era-correct 40hp engine (not original to car) which runs strong. Transmission shifts well, no popping out of gear. Odometer shows 16,900, but surely not the original miles which are unknown. 5 era-correct Coker-supplied B. F. Goodrich radial 3/4" white walls on powder-coated wheels in correct color scheme (sea green; turquoise white). Heavy OEM hupcaps. Comes with VW birth certificate. The last 4 photos show the car as found, and restoration work in progress. Note there is only surface rust on the pans and in the spare well. All of which was addressed before painting and reassembly. Excellent driver and worthy of any weekend car show. A very pretty car that always turns heads and gets the good, old thumbs up! As usual another, older VW has come along that I am interested in buying (gotta have an oval!). Lack of money and storage! It's the same old story. Clear title; currently registered and driven regularly. Sold where is, as is, FOB Albuquerque NM, without license plates shown in photos. US and Canadian bidders only! They are the last 5 and show the engine compartment, the spare tire and inside the front bonnet. On Jan-11-18 at 10:25:55 PST, seller added the following information: Added a photo of the pan. As you can see it is clean, rust free and is solid even under the battery box. |
