Description of 1976 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Bicentennial Special Edition |
This is a 1976 Special Edition Super Beetle Convertible commemorating the Bicentennial of the American Revolution. In 1976 each Volkswagen dealer in the U.S. was allotted one of these Special Edition cars to be sold during the month of June. The cars were all triple white convertibles, white interior, exterior and top, with red & blue striped graphics. Even has it's original "American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976" decal and KARMANN badge (see pictures) . This particular car was purchased from the local Portland Oregon VW dealer (Gateway Volkswagen) in June of 1976 by the woman who still owns it. She is the original owner. All doors, windows and locks work as they should. All lights and gauges also work as they should. Interior is in excellent condition, no rips or tears in the seats. Wood grain dash and the dash pad are original and in excellent condition. The odometer quit working at 47,533 miles (the speedo works fine), except for the first couple of years, the car has not been a daily driver and certainly has less than 100,000 miles on it. It is mechanically sound, never been wrecked, body is straight and in excellent condition. There are some minor chips on the front from driving. It has only been driven on nice days, is garage-kept, and always covered with it's original full car cover. The 1600cc fuel injected engine is original, has never been out of the car, and runs great. Except for regular oil changes, no major work has ever been done to it. It starts up immediately, runs and drives excellent. A few years ago the convertible top was replaced with a new, dark blue top, (she wanted it to match the stripes), made of insulated German A5 canvas. It has a vinyl cover for the top, when it is down. Factory white sport wheels have new tires on them. Shocks are also new. The breast cancer awareness magnets on the rear of the vehicle peel right off (forgot to remove for pictures). If you are looking for a versatile classic vehicle, this is it! Top on for fall and winter, top off for spring and summer. Don't miss your opportunity to own this rare classic vintage vehicle that will only gain value year after year! If you are at Barret Jackson this week, this is one to consider for your collection. The reserve is set relatively low for the value of this vehicle. You will hard pressed to find a Bicentennial Edition Super Beetle in this condition, for the money. I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is listed for sale locally as well. The Original Oregon Plates come with the car (as pictured) to an Oregon buyer, but they have expired tags. It currently has "Special" plates, that are currently licensed, making it legal to drive. They too will come with the car if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Also comes with the original owner's manual (see pictures). Clean and Clear title in hand. $1000 nonrefundable deposit via cash, Paypal or wire transfer will hold the vehicle for you. Remaining balance will be due within 72 hours via cash or wire transfer. I will "overnight mail" the title to the new owner (if not local) when full funds have been received. Willing to work with the buyer and the shipping of this vehicle. Shipping costs are buyer's responsibility. antique collector collectable swap meet expo barret jackson auction mecum mechum 1979 1978 1977 1975 1974 1973 1972 1971 1970 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79 bug volkswagon volks wagen karmen gia van history golf jetta bus spirit of 76 |
