Description of 1960 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon |
This one off VW T1 was made on the 21st October 1960 and the country of destination was the USA. I have the certificate of ownership from the VW museum. I purchased the van from the French government in an airport auction in 2012 and have all documents to prove it. The APU Auxiliary Power unit installed in the back is a Garrett GTC85-90 and has 100 hours total time since new. the last overhaul was in 1981. Google aircraft air starter unit to see what it does. The van was converted for Lufthansa and used at Frankfurt Main airport, apparently is was used at other airports but Lufthansa were not able to find the records. In the 1980s the airport of Chateauroux in France purchased it and I purchased it from them. From what I have been told by the two previous owners the van has never been registered for the road as it has spent it life behind the airport fence. I loaned Marcel (the van) back to the Lufthansa museum in 2012 and he returned to me last year. My intention was to restore him but that never happened and never will due to a change of direction. Please feel free to ask me any questions or for additional photos. The van in in luxembourg and thats where he will need to be viewed and picked up. |
