Description of 1959 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

Ok, so it took me an incredible amount of time to find a Rag Top bug with genuine patina, that was still solid. This car is far beyond what I expected to come across here in the North East being as solid as it is, and its been a blast and a serious show stopper all summer long (for the few shows we even had….). The floors are factory metal, there is no evidence of repairs or filler to be found. Channels are solid. Paint is original L41 SCHWARZ Black Paint with excellent patina. Even the battery tray is in excellent condition. The car is a legit rag top 59. Still retains its original 36HP engine fully rebuilt and in showoff condition. 6Volt. The car literally starts up right away warm or cold, and runs better than any other VW I’ve owned to date. Though be it not a race car, this thing purrs like a well-oiled sewing machine and stays cool in any weather. Manual choke in the dash works as it should. Shifting is off pattern a bit right but takes only a moment to get used to. Gears grab as they should. Converted to disc brakes on the front, AND the back. Stops on a dime. Entire Loose Nuts Safari kit. Front. Rear. Both side pop-outs. I would be willing to negotiate these out of the deal if you are not interested. Loose Nuts is the best in the game and the wait list is just about forever. Narrowed 6” and clearly slammed in its current state. Fully adjustable. The car is not set up for the tame sitting as low as it does currently, but still storms New England roads with an attentive eye to potholes!! Somewhere that stays warmer longer with decent streets and she’d be in heaven as she sits. That said, its fully adjustable and can be brought back up with little effort. Rims are 17” Speedwell BRM’s in a wide five pattern. All lights and blinkers work as they should. Seats and interior panels have been redone in the original color configuration. Headliner has been removed and new one yet installed. If it was important to the new buyer, I did keep the original door cards which were in a similar but nicely preserved patina condition. Rag top slides open and closed like its brand new, and seals tight with no weird bumps. I have owned a few, this is not a given. Carpet kit is new, rubber mats are original. Dash is uncut and the car was factory ordered with the delete, still in the dash. Roof rack, parcel shelf, and vintage luggage are not included unless Buy It Now price is met, then I’ll throw them in I guess. This car will undoubtedlytake the attention away from nearly anything it pulls up next to, and won’t let you down getting to or from.

The ONLY reason I am selling this car is because I have just bought a Split Window Single Cab for its replacement to start a business with. I thought I had the car sold to a local enthusiast, but his money fell through and so I’m offering it up here for a quick sale. I wish I could keep both, but its one or the other so here is your chance.

As these things go, some key points to make and understand before bidding. Given the age of the car and what it is, and of course the venue in which it’s being listed, I am offering this sale AS-IS, no warranties outside of my word on the items mentioned above, and no refunds of any kind once the deal is done. This said PLEASE ask any and all questions, come and see/inspect the car if you’re able, and get all of your own permissions/financing/space cleared in your garage BEFORE you bid. BUY IT NOW can be agreed on at $16,500 or upon discussion, so please reach out if this is of interest. The car is also going to be listed elsewhere and for sale locally, first to pay is the new owner. Otherwise, bid what you can afford to and are committed to pay, and we’ll see from there! PayPal for deposit is OK, the rest will have to be wire, cash, or certified bank check (PP Fees too high for full payment unless you want to cover them). Nothing gets handed over till funds clear. Pick up here at my house in Barre MA is expected within 5 business days of end of auction. Shipping is responsibility of the buyer, but I will of course do anything I can on my end to help get that sorted. I’ve both shipped a car home and away so I’m happy to lend my experience onto whomever might not have before to make it go smoothly. I have all the paperwork, clear/clean title, ready for new owner to register in their name etc, all will be sent certified mail once funds are cleared.

In closing, my reputation on here means A LOT to me, and my enthusiasm for these cars and the people that enjoy them is my favorite part of the hobby. If there is anything you’d like to know or share in regard to this stunningly preserved patina Rag Bug, I’d love to chat. Please feel free to consider my feedback, and or speak with anyone that has purchased a car from me in the past if you have any concerns. Thanks again for the interest and good luck with the bidding :) Cheers, Brando
