Custom Off-Road 1973 VW Thing

1973 Volkswagen Type 181 Thing. Fun off road car, draws lots of attention.

Engine:

VW case, machined full flow oil passage, cut for 94mm barrels. 74mm counter weighted crankshaft, 94mm pistons and barrels, 12# 200mm flywheel w/ cromoly gland nut, EMPI high lift cam, windage tray, high volume oil pump, special drain pan w/ extended oil pickup, CB Panchito heads, dual valve springs, cromoly push rods, 1.25 rockers, solid shafts, aluminum bolt on valve covers.
Dual CB 44mm MXHP Webers w/ off road 6" foam filters, port matched manifolds, hex linkage, 009 distributor, high output coil, external oil filter, external oil cooler w/ electric fan, 75 amp chrome alternator, high output coil, external oil filter, external oil cooler w/ electric fan, 75 amp chrome alternator, chrome sheet metal, oil temp & pressure sensors, EMPI off road exhaust w/ stainless muffler & spark arrestor, & welded fan. Hear it run, video available with photos. I didn't have a speedo for first test runs but I think there is less than 5000 miles on it.

4" taller and wider fiberglass fenders, full roll cage, coilovers with reservoirson all corners,off roadseats with harnesses, 091 buss trans, solid mounts, cromoly 3x3 rear trailing arms, Thing stub axles, EMPI axles and CV joints, EMPI wide 5 disc brakes, cromoly 6" wider front beam with 4" longer trailing arms, EMPI spindles with additional bracing, electric power steering, rack and pinion with 1" tie rods with hiem ends.

16 gal. Aluminum fuel tank with baffles and roll over vent, electric fuel pump, hanging pedals, hydraulic clutch, VDO tach, speedo, oil pressure, oil temp, volt meter, fuel gauge.

LED 9" spot lights, 40" LED spot and flood light bar, LED headlights, 100amp battery, 6 LED amber rear dust lights.

Floor and cargo area is painted with bed liner, paint is Toyota Sandstorm with flattening agent. 2" body lift, new floor pans, and custom steel top rack. Licensed in Arizona but located in Washington State right now.
