Up for bid is a restored 1992 Volvo 240 wagon. I used to restore these cars about every 14-18 months, ut stopped a few years ago basically because good interiors, rims, nd bodies were becoming difficult to find. I won't use cheap aftermarket Asian parts - another reason I stopped doing these as high quality parts are getting scarce and hard to find. All the parts are either original blue box Volvo or Swedish-German sources. I had enough NOS parts left over to almost do another, nd was talked into it when a lifetime Georgia car, totally rust free - no winters) with 116,000 miles became available. About halfway into it, he buyer's job was transferred out of state and they backed out. I finished it and continued to drive it (7,000 miles) this summer, nd even considered keeping it. But the bottom line is we have no room for another car, o I'm placing it up for sale. My reserve is fair - lower than what many dealers want for untouched high mileage specimens, nd a number that you couldn't replace it at. The outside: 2 decades of Georgia sun baked the paint, o the car was stripped and repainted its original 189 white. While apart, new windshield was installed, s well as new lamps, new door seals, ear hinge harnesses, ower mirrors and side markers. New Llumar (lifetime warranty) tint rounds it out. The inside: a complete pristine black interior was located on the West coast, nd shipped back here to replace the sun damaged original tan interior. Dash has a single small crack in the usual place. ABS gauge clusters are known to have problems, o this one was sent out for rebuild and new OE style-updated faces. The lighting is also vastly improved. Also added is a full gauge package, ncluding a tach, il pressure and volt gauges. A new Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo provides the tunes, laying through 2 sets of Boston Acoustic speakers. The climate remains cool with a refurbed converted 134a ice cold AC system that moves through a new blower motor. Dash and power mirror switches were also refurbed. The chassis: All new bushings - front and rear, ie rod ends, all joints, pper strut mounts with reinforcement plates, achs-Boge front struts and rear shocks, way bar end links, nd powder coated turbo 23mm front and rear sway bars. The new suspension rides on fresh OE 5 spoke 15" alloys wrapped in new Pirelli P4's, nd is stopped by rebuilt brake calipers, new rotors and pads. While apart, he wheel bearings were also repacked. The power train: The original motor had been overheated due to the original and substandard plastic tank radiator failing. It was pulled and a fresh redblock installed, s well as the trans thoroughly gone through. Cylinder head was ported, 5 angle valve job, nd a T cam (turbo) installed for better low end power. Its how it should have been from the factory. Power transmits through new u-joints and carrier bearing. Any future cooling issue was covered with a new Nissens all metal (brass/copper) heavy duty 3 core radiator. All new hoses, elts, iming belt, ensioner, ensors, askets, eals, ater pump, yr battery and 100A alternator rounds it out. It breathes through a full 2 1/2" stainless steel exhaust (rear muffler is aluminized - as the size wasn't available in SS) with a new free flow catalytic convertor and stainless chrome tip. This car runs, rives and rides like a dream. It needs nothing but a driver. Its not a new car - but as close to one as you will find. Might be your best (and last?) chance to get one like it. I will assist in any way to help with arranging transport, r you are free to fly in and drive it home. You won't be disappointed. Good luck! NOTE: No warranty is offered or implied. $500 deposit due within 48 hrs of end of auction. Balance due within 7 days unless other arrangements are made. I will assist the buyer with any freight, elivery or pickup details. Please contact me with ANY questions before bidding.
