Pelle Peterson’s masterpiece was a significant departure from the rather staid reliability/durability driven design and engineering firm. It was meant to attract a new type of customer and did. Consequently. it has developed a slightly different place in the collector car market from it’s Volvo brethren. This is rare example of fantastic design that never strayed far from the original drafts coupled with the reliability and durability also hallmarks of the Volvo brand. A Swedish legend is born that will never be duplicated. it simply can't be done anymore. It was the culmination of engineering and design refinements made since the introduction of the 1800 series in 1961. The limited run solidifies its collectability credentials. The final year of such a highly regarded series is nice as well. The uniqueness of the wide range of glass work including the iconic rear hatch glass guarantees a singular driving experience.
