Description of 1971 Volvo Other Not an E or an F

Very nice. For Sale Rare 1971 Volvo 164 6 cyl. manual 4 speed NADA Classic and Haggerty values: $4500-$11000 It is very hard to find these to compare sales. I found one in the UK for $28,000 USD. There was one on Ebay for close to $11,000 but it had leather seats and a sunroof. This car looks new in many ways but of course has some wear and tear because it is 45 years old. To me it is more desirable than the 164 E and F models because they are electronic fuel injection, computers, etc. This had a mechanical fuel pump replaced with an electric one. It has dual Stromberg carburetors. Because it is older and had a choke and carburetor, I put in a new Interstate high CCC battery and bought a new alternator. To start it, you pull the choke out and have the key on so the fuel will pump and depress the accelerator a few times like we all did in the good old days, and it pops right up. It runs nicely, I have driven it every day since I got it and it is a head turner. You can remove your hands from the wheel and it goes down the road straight and true. The good is that it is rust free, drives very well, and look good. I just don't find any unless you count a little bit of discoloration around the headlight bezels. In the truck, under the spare tire, there is not a trace of rust, nor is there any under and around the wheel wells, etc. Thumping on the bottom produces a solid sound. I am always amazed at the way the trunk and and hood stay open and close and they sound they make. Great fit and finish for 45 years old.. I am not an expert, but I have had a 240 and an 850 and I am convinced there is nothing like a Volvo. I suspect this will easily get 200,000-300,000 miles. I put new Bosch wipers on it and the windshield wiper fluid works and wets the window, but the wipers don't move. I think it is a fuse and I will replace those this week, but I want to represent it accurately. There is a tail light out and a headlight out. I think the previous owner lost his excitement over an attempted restoration, because he spent almost $5000 on the paint and the trunk deck was flawed. A good restoration paint job should more like twice that amount. I spent $425 to paint the deck lid 2 weeks ago. ' There is a turning indicator lens on the passenger side that is taped on, but all it needs is a new lens, the screws, bezel, rubber is intact. There is a crack in the dash. There is a new radio, speakers, and DC player. There is a spare, a tool kit, etc. and a few misc. pieces of old and new trim in the trunk and an old visor. The seats have nice tan covers and are clean with not tears, as is the carpet, but there are blue fabric covered seats underneath. The green exterior is the original color. I had a Benz 240 D that I got a million miles out of and that was my thinking when I bought this, but it was an impulse buy. I would rather hold off with an "extra" car until I find a diesel again. Tires are good. Please ask questions. Those are all the photos I have. I prefer to talk to potential buyers on the phone, in fact, I am not going to sell it to someone I haven't spoken with. It is for sale locally too, so I reserve the right to remove it if sold. Runs well. Still needs mud flaps, headlight bulb, turn signal bulb. Nice sound/CD/radio. Try to find one online. Extremely rare. 91K. Will make 300K or more easily.
