Description of 1973 Volvo 1800ES |
I purchased this 1973 Volvo 1800 ES with 37,000 original miles in 1986 from the original owner in Los Angeles California. It has the four speed transmission with electric overdrive and dealer installed air conditioning that is converted to 134A. Over the next few years I drove the car about 28,000 miles and then had the car professionally reconditioned to like new by Lamar Automotive with paintwork by Darin Hostetter. With engine/transmission out and front suspention/crossmenber removed the engine compartment and body were stripped, repainted and assembled with a new windshield, new upper and lower dash pads, all new rubber, all new stainless trim, all chrome re-chromed, front seats redone with leather and a new Volvo exhaust system. The tires are correct and there is an extra set of correct wheels with beauty rings and correct tires and there is a Nardi steering wheel, bra and quality car cover. The car has always been garaged and there is no rust, all maintenance is up to date and everything is in working order but the radio. I have receipts for everything done to the car since I acquired it but none before except theNew Car Purchase Options List with the MSRP and the Owner’s Manual in pristine condition. Since the reconditioning was finished in 2000 it has been driven about 2,000 miles to several Volvo club and 1800 club meets and occasional drives to keep everthing working properly, current mileage is 66,850 miles. The car has first in class wins at the meets plus Best in Show at the VCOA national meet in 2014. In 2002 while Volvo was owned by Ford Motor Company, Ford requested my car among a few others to displayat the Monterey Historic Car Races at Laguna Seca Racewayforthe 40th anniversary of the introduction of the P1800. This car is exceptional, it looks, feels, runs and drives like new, if you want a near 100 point car and have your heart set on an 1800ES this one is hard to match.
