Description of 1970 Ford Mustang Sportsroof

You are looking at a VERY RARE Factory Black on Black M-code 351C-4V 4-speed 1970 Mustang Sportsroof with a Factory Ram Air Shaker hood. This car needs a full restoration. but is an extremely worthy candidate with this potent performance option list and in its original stunning color combination!! This is an old street racer from the Cleveland. Ohio area and spent its early days tearing up the boulevard in NE Ohio and SW Pennsylvania. Once it's days as a Street Fighter were over; the Mustang was left to languish while awaiting a Mustang enthusiast to restore it to its former glory!!This car was a retail order at Herb Stein Ford in North Jackson. Ohio and was ordered to go fast and do it in stealth mode!! It was ordered in Black on Black with Ford's new for 1970 351C-4V engine. Close Ratio Toploader 4-speed transmission. a 9 inch 3. 50 31 spline Nodular Traction-Lok and a Ram Air Shaker Hood with Black Hood Stripe and 351 engine displacement call outs!! I have the Deluxe Marti Sheet to document it's original options and production numbers. This 1970 Mustang Sportsroof was originally equipped as follows:Shaker Hood Scoop351C-4V 300HP Engine 4-speed Toploader Close Ratio Transmission3. 50 Traction-Lok N-case 31 Spline 9 inch RearBlack Exterior PaintBlack Hood StripeBlack Standard Vinyl Bucket Seat InteriorE78-14 Belted TiresAM RadioCompetition Suspension This car while needing a full restoration is not as bad as most cars you find from the rust belt. It does need floors and torque boxes and the left rail needs a couple of spots repaired; but the right rail is very solid as are the rear torque boxes and frame rails. Both rear 1/4's. outer wheel houses and trunk drops have already had the metal work done to repair the rust damage; but do need the finish work done on them. The inner trunk area is very solid on the car as well. The interior is completely original to the car and includes it's original Seats. Dash. Radio etc. It too will need to be restored but is all here and unmolested!! The original 351C-4V engine was lost long ago (in a heated Street Joust on Main St no doubt!!) and has been replaced by a 351 Cobra Jet with 4V heads and few speed goodies to include an Offenhauser Aluminum Intake Manifold. Holley Carburetor. Mallory Electronic Ignition and Ford Motorsport Valve Covers. The motor ran very well the last time we ran it; but it has been sitting for the better part of a year now and I am sure with todays fuel it will need some tinkering to get it running again. The original Close Ratio Toploader 4-speed is still in the car and retains it's original Ford Hurst Shifter with the original '70 only Hurst T-Handle with the shift pattern and set screw. The transmission worked fine the last time I drove the car; although the clutch did hang up a little. The car still has a Scattershield that is a reminder of its Street Fighting heritage; but I do have a stock bellhousing to go with the car. The original 9 inch rear is in the car and is a 3. 50 31 Spline Nodular Case Traction-Lok. It is currently running an old set of Lakewood Traction Bars with J-bolts as another holdover from its days as a Boulevard Brawler. Like a Crowning Jewel on this Bad to the Bone Black on Black Mustang; as if it was not already bitchin' enough. this car was originally ordered with Ford's oh so awesome Shaker Hood Scoop. Sitting atop the 351CJ-4V is an ORIGINAL Ford Ram Air Shaker complete with all of its original working components to feed cold air into that big port Cleveland 4 barrel!! This car needs a complete restoration to include rust repair. body & paint. nbsp;trim & cosmetics as well as a full mechanical restoration. but with a desirable option list and color combination such as this it makes for a very worthwhile candidate!I also have the Big Brother to this car. a Factory Black on Black R-code 428CJ 4-speed Sportsroof and thought that they would make great stablemates as a pair but with other cars in line ahead of it to restore it is just not meant to be. So I am making this GREAT Black on Black Ram Air 351C 4-speed Mustang resto project available to YOU. the Mustang faithful to pick up where this has been left off and finish the restoration. The last 2 pictures are of my R-code 428CJ 4speed Sportsroof and a pic of what the finished product would like. They are not a art of this auction and are presented as reference pics only.
