Description for Oldsmobile 442 1970

1970 Twilight Blue Oldsmobile 442 W30 Convertible.Ultra rare and very correct W-30! Twilight Blue w/White interior, 455/370hp, 3-speed automatic transmission. The Muscle Car Wars were at their peak in '70! And the "Big Three" all had ground-pounding offerings to compete! And Oldsmobile was no exception. Performance was at a pinnacle that year for one special reason; CUBIC INCHES!! GM finally dropped their size cap for intermediates. And the results were 454ci Chevelle's and 455ci G.T.O.'s GNX's and 4-4-2's! And increases in... horsepower when right along with the c.i.'s! And Oldsmobile was no exception! The 4-4-2 featured a revised body in '70 and the standard engine was the 455 putting out 370hp and a stump pulling 500lbs/ft of torque! But if you wanted a little something extra, you could check RPO W30 on your dealer order sheet. What you got was a fiberglass hood (option W25) with functional air scoops and low-restriction air cleaner, aluminum intake manifold, special camshaft, cylinder heads, distributor, and carburetor. Output was increased to 370hp.The revised body style and increased performance resulted in the 4-4-2 being awarded pace car duties at the Indy 500 race in 1970!This awesome and very rare survivor W-30 is highly documented and one of only 264 produced! It's optioned with bucket seats, console with factory "dual-gate" shifter, factory gauges including tach, tilt steering column, power front disc brakes, power steering, power soft top, "Super Stock II wheels (including spare) wrapped in Goodyear Polyglas tires. beautiful unrestored Ivory interior, numbers matching 455ci engine, "OW" coded Turbo 400 transmission and "TM" coded 3.42 rear end. The car has been authenticated by Steve Minore and his report is included with the sale. Additional documentation includes the original Protect-O-Plate and Broadcast Sheet. This is surely one of the rarest, best documented and most collectible muscle cars ever built!
