Texas Stored, 1000+ miles from heavy usage of road salt and 350 miles from coastal storm surges.


It takes 15 minutes to pull back the front carpet and snap a picture or remove the rear trunk mat, to reveal the truth. In my description, I'm also providing a basic inspection of the substructure and panels to identify major rework and/or accidents.A basic inspection offers more protection to the buyer thana long-winded history report. Andwith the internet,you have all the history at your finger tips.

There's plenty of "mystery-metal" out there. My goal here is to educate. Take note of the disclaimers out there, such as…. “Our sales associates are not trained inspectors”.

Pass this one up.... and you may be looking at a lot steeper price for metal like this.

AUTHENTICITY:

  • The VIN is BS23H3B265650, and the 2nd letter of “S” means it’s a true ‘cuda. This is not just abase model Barracuda, which has an “H” for the 2nd letter.
  • Certified 10 page Authenticity Report, by Galen Govier.Chrysler Registry # 1011235, Production Date: Dec. 13th 1972. 1 of 165 registered, 1 of 1,718 4-spds built.

ENGINE & CYLINDER HEADS:

  • The 5th digit of this VIN is “H” = 340 cu-in. Other cars came with “G”= 318.
  • Legacy power-making features such as; the Large 2.02 valve X-heads andNOT the small 1.60 valve heads that are commonly found on 1972-1973 models.
  • Engine block that is of correct casting code period, dated 3-27-72, which is accurate for this cars' production date of 12-13-72. Engine build-up time and time that they sat staged on their K-frame all play into this lapse.
  • TRW pistons, internally balanced, performance cam-good drivability, double roller timing chain, Melling oil pump, new timing cover, water pump, etc...

****************** METAL INSPECTION **************

SUBFRAME:

  • All sub-frame members are original metal and show no signs of rot.
  • The front frame rails are straight and there is no evidence of front-end impact with no buckling (crimple) where the front frame rails join the cross member beneath the firewall.
  • The c-channel directly behind the rear bumper is original rust free and factory welded on both ends with no trace of rear impact.
  • The side rails beneath the doors are straight and no sign of impact from a side collision.

ROOF: This car never had a vinyl roof to trap water or the trim to hold water or leak.

INSPECTING FROM THE FRONT END:

  • The front radiator support where the VIN is stamped has all factory welds with no sign of accident.
  • Front fenders are straight and rust free.
  • The cowl where VIN is also stamped is Factory original, straight and factory welded to the firewall. The Firewall is original, straight and rust-free.

INSPECTING FROM INSIDE THE TRUNK:

  • Metal just below the rear window - Original welds to package tray and trunk jamb, not rusted, not even a light oxidation on the bottom side that wasn’t factory painted.
  • Both Quarter panels: At the rearmost are original factory stitch welded to rear valence, and at the top are factory welded to the trunk jamb.Continuing to inspect Quarters from inside trunk, No evidence of accident as inspected from rearmost to as far forward as you can see, which is to mid wheel wells. Following the quarter panels from the floor level all the way up to the trunk jamb the metal is factory original and no evidence of being knocked in and pulled back out.
  • The condition of my trunk floor is rust free and honestly represented in the pictures.
  • Rear taillight panel is original, straight and no signs of rear impact.

FLOORS:

  • Photos depict current rust-free condition under the carpet.
  • No rot or deterioration from a past heater core leak, which is very common.
  • It would be foolish to rely just on pictures from beneath the vehicle because the thick undercoating can hold rotted/flaked metal together.

DOORS & JAMBS :

  • Doors have excellent fit and match the straight ‘cuda body line that runs from front to back.
  • Door jambs are clean and original.

MILEAGE: Current Odometer reading is between 32,500 and 33,000. Examining the digit alignment on the odometer,the digitin the 10,000 position of the odometer is well centered vertically, and this is a good indication that this position has not rolled over. Other indications of the low mileage include; minimal wear on the clutch pedal rubber pad,overall excellent metal condition of the vehicle.

  • Got a wheel preference? This was a 'performance-only' CUDA with the 4-speed, plainblack wheels with dog-dish hub caps and no vinyl roof. I will substitute Rallye wheels if you prefer.
  • Got an Engine Block color preference? This Engine, having the Large 2.02 Intake Valves and otherpower-making features, has earned the Legacy Hemi (orange) color. If you desire the Mopar Blue that murmurs, “Low-Performance”, I can do that for you.
