Description of 1974 Triumph TR-6

You are bidding on a numbers matching 1974 Triumph TR6 with factory overdrive. We purchased this car back in 2011 as a one-owner TR and drove it a few years before parking it in the shop as my wife (also known as "The Warden" ) simply did not care for the original Mimosa yellow with chestnut interior. I explained to her that there would be a great deal more work involved than simply "making it red" . In January 2014 I began a full restoration with the goal of a nice, afe, ED Tr6 that my better half would drive every day through out the summer months.

The car was subsequently stripped to the tub and the long road to restoration began. Any and all rust was cut from the tub and patch panels were fabricated, cribe fitted and butt-welded in. Starting with a solid car simplified this task significantly. Once complete the car was prepped for paint, nd following multiple coats of epoxy primer it was sprayed in Triumph Signal Red urethane. Three of the four wings (fenders) were replaced and they received the same treatment. The sequence of painting was done in such a manner as to ensure that ALL mating seams between the fenders and the tub were primed and painted before the fenders were mounted, hen the car received a full paint job on the exterior (the interior panels and under hood areas were done beforehand). While this created significantly more work I wanted to make certain that all portions of the body were well protected. The frame was stripped and painted, he suspension received the same treatment plus all new springs, ushings, pring pads, all joints, runnions, tie-rod ends, hocks, tc. The brake master cylinder, ooster, nd brake lines were replaced with new as was the clutch slave cylinder and clutch plate. I also installed a braided steel hydraulic line for the clutch slave cylinder. I installed new graded fasteners as I went along. As a precautionary measure I sent the radiator and heater core to the radiator shop for full cleaning, lushing, nd pressure testing. The radiator was graded as marginal so I purchased a new aluminum unit. The original bumpers were sent out for re-chrome and look fantastic. The motor had allegedly been rebuilt prior to our purchase and judging by its condition internally I have no reason to doubt the claim. It runs very strong, urns no oil, nd showed new gaskets throughout when disassembled for cleaning. The odometer shows 9146 miles and the Title shows "Exempt"in the odometer reading section due to the vehicle being over 10 years old.

As the car came back together we elected to completely replace the interior, ncluding the trunk, r boot as you blokes call it. The seats were stripped to the frames, nd restored before the new baffles, oam, nd seat internals were installed followed by new fabric, nd panels. I completely sound-proofed the interior panels with both "Hush Mat"and "Dyna Mat" . The transmission and tail-shaft tunnels were a little rough so new PVC units were installed. We also elected to install a new windshield and cap molding for the windshield header. There are many small details that are not visible however add to the longevity of the car. I re-routed the cowl drains through the rockers and they now drain out on the ground under the car. I installed new brass micro screen under the cowl vent to prevent any foreign material from getting into the cowl drains. I installed upgraded nylon throttle shaft bushings, nd an auxiliary hood latch release (in the event of a broken hood release cable in the future). I injected rust proofing in between the rear valance panels, n the rockers, n the doors, nd any other orifice that may be subject to rust. The inner fenders were chip guarded as were the lower rockers. I installed new seat belt assemblies. I am sure I have forgotten some of the details but will let the pictures tell the story from this point.

I have restored many motorcycles and as you know there are no hiding places on a motorcycle so attention to every detail is paramount to set the final product a cut above a typical restoration. I tried to bring the same attention to detail to this restoration, fter all....it is the Wardens car.

After a year and a half, any hundreds of hours, nd many thousands of dollars the TR6 is done. While it is a beauty the Warden does not feel that the car should be subjected to that of a "daily driver, rocery getter" status and feels that it would be better suited as a special occasion car or to be regulated to someone's collection. We have subsequently elected to sell the TR on eBay. We are starting the bid, ith no reserve, nd at a price that is significantly less than one would expect to pay to have his or her own TR restored to this level. The car is located near Penn Yan, Y and I offer the invitation to any serious bidders to come take a look first-hand. While I will not allow any test drives I would be more comfortable selling the car to someone who actually sees it in person and I know that it meets or exceeds their expectations.

As far as the auction rules they are simple. This auction starts with no reserve. It will sell to the high bidder at the end of the auction....period. I will not sell the car outside of eBay, nd I will not end the auction early so as a prospective bidder you need not fear that the auction will simply end without notice (I hate that). Payment will be made as a wire transfer, n cash, r a certified check that has had time to clear my bank before the car leaves my shop. If you are bidding, lease please please get permission from your spouse, artner, arents or lawful guardians, heck with your bank, all Barrack Obama or Spongebob Squarepants, o what ever is required for you to fulfill your commitment. Please cover the financial bases ahead of time. If you are having the car shipped I will keep it in my shop, ell secured, nd will assist your shipper in any way that I can to ensure that the transport proceeds without incident. This car has a clear New York State Title in my name.

I have driven the car seven tenths of a mile since restoration, ust to make sure that everything works as it should. It is possible that there may be some minor tweaking, r final tuning that will be needed however I feel that the bases have been covered. The car comes without any warrantee and is sold as it is.
