Description of 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV A/C, Webers, Bluetooth |
I am the fourth owner of this gorgeous 1974 GTV 2000 with only 22,814 miles on it. I bought it locally about 2 and ½ years ago from a gentleman who had purchased it in Canada a year previously and only put about 100 miles on it. In Canada, the car was never driven in bad weather. The rocker panels, under carriage and body appear rust free, unlike so many Alfa's of this period. I had the car thoroughly gone over by DiFatta Bros. in Baltimore, a leading East Coast Alfa service center. Just prior to selling it to me, the previous owner had a rebuilt transmission including clutch assembly installed by them. When I purchased it, I spent about $4,000 having all of its needs attended to by DiFatta. This included a major tune up with valve adjustment, replacing all old suspension bushings, and rebuilding and fine tuning the Weber carburetors which were installed in Canada. I have never driven the car in wet weather. The engine compartment indicates that the car was originally silver. The current blue is a very high quality paint job, with no visible defects or overspray. The only defect I can find is a cracked dash cap, which is very common to these cars. Otherwise, the interior is like new. Although it appears to be original, an Alfa Club enthusiast tells me he believes it was redone because it appears to be real leather rather than the original vinyl. The car runs beautifully. The engine starts easily, idles smoothly and pulls beautifully. It shifts smoothly with no hang-ups. What a joy to drive on country roads! The car also has what appears to be factory installed A/C, although it does not blow cold. The previous owner tells me it simply needs to be charged, but I have never bothered because I don’t want the performance trade off that A/C entails. It also has a modern Kenwood radio hidden in the glove compartment so as not to detract from the beautiful dash. It has a blue tooth hook up. The Toyo GT Gran Premium tires appear to be practically new. The wheels appear to be Cromodoro’s, but say “Simmons” on them. There is no curb rash, except for a little on the front left wheel. I am selling the car with extra parts that I received from the previous owner. These include a spare transmission, a rear window and rear quarter windows, a new, extra exhaust system, and an old dash cap. I have some, but not all, of the old service records from Canada, and all of the records documenting the work I had done to get the car in its current near perfect state. The only reason I’m selling this car, with great regret, is because I have to make room in my garage for another Italian beauty I am about to purchase. The car is located in Baltimore. I would be willing to help a buyer with shipping arrangements, which would be at the buyer’s expense. As usual with a car of this age, no warranties are given or implied but an inspection is encouraged and would be welcome. I reserve the right to sell the car locally. |
