Description of 1927 Bugatti Other Type 35 / 37A |
You are bidding on a one of a kind Bugatti 1927 Type 37 race car reproduction vehicle. Vehicle is a show car although it is not 100% perfect (very few details described below) Vehicle is a head turner and a show winner, ne day after I finished the car I took it to the Culver City car Show and won the Judges Award and received from George Barris himself. The crowd around the car during the show was very rewarding. I got this vehicle a year ago and invested tons of money in getting it looking as close as possible to the original car with the advice of an Industrial Designer. Now a baby is on the way and I have other priorities. This is the only example with the 1.5 million look with such an inexpensive maintenance and fun to drive. I will not have another one built. Be the star at the car show. Period. Everybody thinks it is original unless you let them know it is not, ncluding professional car photographers and car experts. Chassis: vehicle is based on a VW chassis no rust as it lived in California all it‘s life. no accidents. Suspension: new shocks in the rear. Narrow and adjustable beam in the front. All new tie rods and suspension bushings. New steering damper. New king pins. New drop spindles. New wheel bearings. Brakes: New brakes all around. New brake cylinder. Stainless steel flexible hoses. External parking brake working perfectly. Brake straight with no noises. Wheels: 5 wire wheels are 19"in diameter like the original Bugatti. Tires: all 5 tires are brand new and less than 6 months old. Engine: Engine believed it to be a 1500cc with single carb. It is up to the buyer to upgrade the engine for a more powerful one but I personally don't think is necessary for Car Shows and cruising purposes. Engine has been untouched because it ran well and looked beautiful from day one. It pulls very hard considering the lightweight this vehicle has. It does not smoke at all. You may see a drop or two of engine oil from the bottom cover (just to call it a VW) Transmission: 4 speed and reverse. No grinding or weird sounds. Shifter is outside the vehicle thanks to a mechanism very similar to the original car. When you first drive the car feels a little weird to shift from the left side but after a little while you get used to it if you are familiar driving stick shift. Car can be converted to center shifter, f you decide is easier to drive but looking at the people's faces when they see you shifting from the side is priceless. The transmission is leaking from the rear case gasket and honestly I didn't have the time to get it fixed. I had it checked and it is just the gasket that needs to be replaced. Body: Made from a very thick and reinforced fiberglass. Absolutely no crack or signs of fixed ones. There are a couple of stress marks (Hardly noticeable) in the curved hood. Ride and sound: ride is wonderful and suspension amazing. Car does not sounds like a VW at all, t does sound like a Bugatti!! Tried several custom exhaust designs until I‘ve got the right one. Headlights: Headlights are removable as some original cars had them but race cars did not. Lights: all external lights work, ncluding brake lights and turn signals. Map and instrument lights located in center of dashboard. Reliability: Can drive it all day long without issues. It start every time at the first turn no matter for how long you get it sited. Instruments: all instruments work fine. The compressor gauge and manual pump are for cosmetic purposes only (the original car used the pump to pump oil from the oil tank to the engine to avoid stopping during a race). The turned dashboard is made of stainless steel and does not get damaged as the aluminum ones. Start: car can be started with the ignition key or with the push start button on the left of the speedometer. Freeway: I have only driven the car in the Hollywood Freeway 101 three times for a short period of time but I felt a little rushed driving an open car with no windshield and such narrow wheels. I don't drive motorcycles either. Undercarriage: in great shape all original will post pics as soon as I get the car up on a lift. Engine access: Seat bottom and seat back can be removed easily with no tools. Boat tail can be lifted from the rear to the very top and hold itself with the help of 2 gas lifts. Then you gain full engine access. Transmission and axle access: with seats removed as described above, emove access board with no tools and you have full access to them. Under the Hood: there is the gas tank, rake fluid reservoir and dashboard and electrics access. There is also plenty space for tools and other stuff. Leather: all leather used in this car is genuine leather. Seats: matching high grade vinyl was used on the seat mainly because driver and passenger have to step on the seat in order to seat on the vehicle. Seat belts: lap racing seat belts with matching leather inserts were used. Accessories: Leather helmet, oogles and matching exterior bag are included in the sale. Title: Titled as a 1961 VW no need for smog ever. Title in hand. License plates: California Historical plates, urrent registration and street legal in California. You will NOT be disappointed with this vehicle! Don't hesitate to email me, 'll be glad to answer any questions regarding this vehicle.
You are welcome to see and test drive the car during the auction.
