Description of 1983 Buick Riviera

1983 Buick Riviera Convertible for sale.

In good condition, mechanically and cosmetically.
70,305 original miles, 307 ci V8.
I am the 3rd owner, I purchased it from the estate of the long time 2nd owner.
Unfortunately, it does not fit my lifestyle nor does it appreciate the roads in rural New Mexico.
It runs great, is fun to drive and is very maneuverable for a mid size car. Gas mileage is not bad either.
The Good;
1. Original paint in great/good condition. It has a couple of areas of crackling and one spot where the fiberglass needs a patch and repaint on the right rear lower quarter panel underneath the bumper (see photo).
2. Interior is in VG condition except for tear on the outside edge of the driver’s seat. Power seats work perfectly. Dash has some fading but no cracks. The imitation wood grain is in excellent condition. The factory radio works, the cassette player does not. Needs an antenna replacement (I have one that goes with it, just never got around to installing).
3. Power door locks, windows and top work perfectly.
4. The top is in good condition, no tears but it seems to have had a repair at the rear just above the rear window. Does not leak and it has been tested by NM Monsoon rains and even some early season snow.
5. Mechanically, it is very sound. Runs great, rides great.
6. New tires installed recently (less than 100 miles on them).
7. Entire brake system was gone through. New Hydroboost, new master cylinder, 4 new rotors, all new calipers and pads and new soft hoses to each wheel.
8. Entire cooling system was gone through. New radiator, new water pump and hoses.
9. New power steering pump installed and belts.
10. Carburetor was rebuilt within the past month.
11. New timing chain, gears and gaskets installed this past week (11/18/16).
12. Convertible top boot cover is in good condition, no tears, all snaps are intact but it could use a cleaning as it has been in the trunk for a while.
13. AC works great but may need a recharge soon.
14. All digital dash readouts work perfectly.
15. Recent oil change and tune up. It runs great, does not leak oil and the transmission shifts smoothly.
16. All chrome is in excellent condition, bumpers have never been damaged or dented.
17. I have receipts for all of the work that has been done.

The Bad;
1. Yesterday, while driving the heater core began to leak. It is bypassed for now but will need to be replaced.
2. The aforementioned right rear quarter panel fiberglass that needs to be repaired and painted. There is also a bit of crackling in the paint.
3. The edge of the driver’s seat has a tear. I was given a whole roll of material to reupholster all of the seats and that will come with the car.
4. The front door window scrapers will need to be replaced at some point. They do not leak but the NM sun has taken its toll on them with a few small cracks.
5. Recently the windshield wiper sprayer stopped spraying. I have not looked into for a cause.
6. The CV joints boots on the front drive axles will need to be replaced. One is cracked but there is no damage to the CV joints at this time, no noise.
The not so bad;
1. The engine needs a good cleaning but I will do this before any sale. I do live on a dirt road, but if you know New Mexico, it is dusty here.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I will answer to the best of my knowledge. I have nothing to hide but admittedly I do not know all of the history of the vehicle. Selling as is!
No warranties expressed or implied.
Thank you.
All transport is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will assist in any way necessary.
Only 1750 of these were built for 1983 and this model was only in existence from 1982-1985 and it was the Indy 500 pace car in 1983.
