Description of 1993 Cadillac Allante |
If you are looking for a totally fun to drive daily driver look no further. This is a classic barn find that was pampered by Cadillac for its first 25 years and rarelydriven since then. The first owner had it for 13 YEARS and only put 4,000 miles a year on this beauty. In that time period he had the oil changed every 3,000 miles at the local Cadillac dealer, and literally repaired or changed everything it needed. As recently as 4,000 miles ago he replaced the brake rotors and wheel bearings! Clean CarFax available. The second owner came along and kept the car for 16 years and only put 3,600 miles a year on this beautiful car and again had it meticulously maintained by the local Cadillac dealer. Do the math folks. This car had two owners in 29 years! They even replaced the seat leather, which unfortunately now has two small tears that can be fixed. See photo. Let's get down to brass tacks. This car runs like a top, and I can verify 0-60 in less than 7 seconds. Remember, in 1993 this car cost $63,000 and was faster than the Corvette. Add in a sumptuous Italian leather interior and a trunk large enough for two sets of golf clubs AND two full size suitcases and you have....well a perfect weekend road car. This is my 10th Allante so I know these cars. They are great cars. By virtue of its Vin Number you can see this is one of the last Allantes built...it looks like 700 were built after this one. That means all the kinks were out and this has the more advanced Northstar engine. But this one is unique by the amount of things that WORK: Power windows, both sides; cruise control; antenna; rear (new) and front top pull down motors; power seats, both; Stereo...I have not checked out the CD or Cassette as I don't use them; power door locks; allgauges (The DIC is fogged but you can read it); automatic temperature control (AC needs to be charged); Engine, strong as a bull; transmission shifts smooth as glass; Brakes with anti-lock; exhaust system. All work 100% and that is rare in a 30-year old car. The car is not perfect. It is a wonderful daily driver. The top seals like a vault and apparently had a 6" tear at one point but that has been repaired very professionally. I recently replaced the pistons on the top cover and the rear pull down motor. Both work perfect now. The dash is curling up in front by the defroster and I am not sure what, if anything should be done there. Many people cut it out and cover with a good looking dash cover...which I have ordered. The other alternative is to replace the dash, but for $1000 that clearly is not what I would do. This is not a show car. Just a kick ass fast and smooth high performance sports car with a scratch and ding here and there. There os a six inch "boil" in the paint over the right rear wheel, but other than that the body is solid as a rock. Doors shut like Fort Knox with a great solid feel. I have a new Corvette and need garage space. If I were to replace the leather and dash, for $2,000 this car would be perfect. It has the factory chromes that are worth $2,000 alone! But I am just going to move on. This baby has had my amateur touch and is ready for fun. Kelley's Blue Book says this car is worth $10,000. Add in the low mileage, chromes and gorgeous Polo Green and I would put it at $12,000. I need the garage space. This car is a flat-out bargain at $8,500...so I am starting the bidding at $7,500. Don's hesitate...and thanks for reading about my baby. Car is located in Cleveland, Ohio. Questions? Text me and I will call you back. Promise. By the way. I have a 100% rating on ebay so bid with confidence. |
