Description of 1963 Chevrolet Corvair SPYDER |
This auction is for a 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 Spyder Convertible. 77000 original miles.Just out of lengthy storage . Car has been stored in a dry cellar of a home since the late seventy's. Looks like it was put up because the turbo charger stopped working. Parts were removed to be reconditioned but never materialized as the owner passed away shortly there after . From what I understand his niece or nephew inherited the property and discovered the car. The car is very complete and pretty much in it's original condition. Looks to have had one repaint in the correct brown color . Manual convertible top looks original and seals properly just showing it's age. The interior is fawn in color and actually in quite nice shape. Front carpets were aged up and shrunken so they were thrown away. Back carpets are in place and rest of the interior looks like it will clean up nicely. The body is in way above average condition. Nice and straight down both sides. Doors open and close nicely. Body lines all line up nice. The trunk area is good and solid no rust through or rot. Just some surface rust on the factory Spackle. The floor pans front to back are rock solid and original. Still has whats left of the factory under coat . All drain plugs are still in place. Rockers are original nice and solid. This is important as this is what makes the car structurally sound. The only rust (which is very minimal) is a little bit started on the outer wheel lip right side and a little more on the left side one. Also a small rust spot through on the under belly pan just below the front bumper drivers side. It looks worse in the picture as there is some paint peeling there but there is just a small rust hole . These areas are all very fixable. The original 150 horse turbo charged engine is still intact missing only the fuel pump and generator. Engine still turns freely. All turbo parts are included. 4 speed manual trans shifts fine. At the moment the brakes are down from sitting but the E brake holds the car. All glass is in good shape. The dash is cool on these spyders as they have the factory gauges and tach built in. Also has a little turbo insignia on the trunk and the spyder emblems on the front fender bottoms. Just a nice un messed with car for the Corvair enthusiast to fix up and enjoy or do a complete resto. You dont see these very often and I like cars that your not going to meet on every street corner. We require a $500 dollar deposit at the close of the auction and balance due 3 days there after If you need a title in your state we will register the car and with that and our proper dealer paper work you will receive a title.
