Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro |
1968 Camaro Convertible RS/SS 396 (325hp) Numbers matching 4 speed M20 Up for sale is a car you do not see every day. This is a numbers matching car with a 502 Chevy crate engine currently in it. Let me explain. The car was painted in the late 70’s. Story goes, 1978. So, it is an enamel paint job. The car was running well and needed to be rebuilt, so the prior owner took it to his buddies shop for a rebuild. Well, the rebuild didn’t hold. The car spun a bearing. So, the engine was pulled and it sat at the engine builder’s place for a few years. This upset the owner, so he bought a new engine (502) and had it put in. He than went back and picked up his engine.
As I stated, the car was painted in the late 70’s. It is pretty much an old paint job, but looks super cool. “patinaâ€. The original color was corvette bronze. You can see the paint in places in my picture inclusions. The car still has the original top and it is a deep brown. The drivers side floor pan behind the seat has been replaced. The rest of the floor pans look to be original. I put in pictures of the rockers and lower quarters and you can see the original spot welds. If it was mudded up, you wouldn’t see the spot welds. The car does has some small rust spots in the lower fenders and the front corners of the doors. Quarters look good, if you are restoring it, you will not know what you have until you strip it. The 502 runs extremely well. It has a 4150 double pumper on it with 802 jets. Pretty big. I have several sheets from the car being dynode. They played with jets, spacers and timing. The engine is a 9.6:1 Compression, 2.25 intake, and 1.88 exhaust. 11/32 stems. It put out on the dyno 509 hp and 565 lbs torque. So you have a like new engine, rebuilt transmission and rebuilt rear end (2019) with a new hursrt competition plus shifter. I put a picture of the vacuum lines in the pictures. I am trying to show you the original tie down for the vacuum lines. So many people are trying to fake RS cars. But it is pretty tough to have all these "brittle" tie downs on original vacuum lines. This isn’t something you see everyday. Most RS/SS big block convertibles I see are pace cars. This one isn't. In the numbers game, it is a very limited car. It gets bonus stars* for having the original engine. Bid with confidence. Call for more info. Tim 763-two four five- 6507 Central time zone Bid to buy. $200 deposit due at end of auction.
