Description of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 |
I am selling a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door Hardtop, which includes a Muncie M 22 Rockcrusher 4 speed manual trans. I have owned this since 1969, I did start to restore this, and it needs more to finish it, it is a project car. It does have 1 problem, the VIN number was removed when I had it at a vintage restoration place in Eden NY. The scum bag owner, who went bankrupt, and the moron tech that are responsible for this are no longer there. I have researched this and there should be a VIN stamped on the frame, but I've looked at the places it should be and I can't find it. They were however, pretty good at their craft. The good news is that I have talked with people at the DMV of NY state, and a new VIN number can be issued if the car is roadworthy, I assume other states would have some similar procedure to issue a new VIN. I do not expect a potential buyer to just believe me, research this with your states DMV. I have the original registration, signed, and a bill of sale. I do not have the time or passion to get this car to the point of getting that done, and I don't have the room to keep this any longer. The car, to my knowledge, has never been in an accident, the frame is in excellent condition. The body is black lacquer, the top is white, it has been blocked and sanded and is VERY straight. The top does have a spot (pictured) where the paint is coming up. the rockers are not buffed, and there are some small chips in the paint. The underside is solid, the floors have no rust holes, new suspension bushings, springs, body mounts, etc. the interior is out of the car, I have the panels, not upholstered. I have the seats also. I have all new tinted side glass, and a new front windshield. The engine is a 327 that was bored and rebuilt, but it has sat for long enough that It should be checked to see the inside, it does turn over, but I don't know the condition of the insides. A new set of headers, and extra starter motors. The 4 speed transmission is a Muncie M 22 "Rockcrusher", the number is pictured, this should be in excellent condition. I have many extra parts including a 2nd hood, radiator, a lot of extra trim pieces, 5 stock primed rims with new belted tires, similar to original tires. and many smaller parts too numerous to list. The pot metal is mostly pitted, I have saved them thinking there may someday be a way to restore them. the bumpers I have are not very good. The stainless is in very good condition. I also have monthly issues of a chevy club magazine from 1985 to recently, with tech articles on restoration. the factory build book, and receipts for most everything. NOTE-- I may update this listing to include things I've missed. I assume I will get questions about this listing, please be patient, it may take a couple days for my answer,( I may even call you to answer these) I've been a bit busy, and I will try to list the questions and my answers. I WELCOME ANYONE TO COME AND LOOK AT THE CAR, and the parts, the car is on a lift, so you can inspect the underside. I also have to let you know that all of these parts are not going to fit into the car, I would think a pick-up or van would do for the parts, and a trailer for the car, of course. I would like this to be picked up within 2 weeks of the end of the auction. This car will take some work to be completed, but should be well worth the time, effort and investment. On May-23-20 at 12:05:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: I just had someone look at the car and he suggested I add to the listing that the floor did have a hole in the hump for a manual shifter. That hole was patched before I bought the car. It seems to be sturdy and done correctly. On May-23-20 at 12:43:00 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I have had questions regarding the registration. I have the original NY registration, in the previous owners name, it is signed by the previous owner, as the seller. I also have a signed bill of sale from when I purchased the car, in 1969. I will also do anything within reason, to assist you in getting a replacement VIN number. I also have many friends that will attest that this car has been owned by me since 1969. On May-23-20 at 14:29:58 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I have added photos of the floor from the inside, and a photo of the engine. The motor has an Edelbrock manifold, and the block numbers are 18U105241 T0907HM. I do not have the original steering wheel |
