Description of 1968 Chrysler 300 Series |
1968 Chrysler 300 2dr. 72K original miles on the original 440/4bbl engine and automatic transmission. Starts easily runs super strong does not burn any oil. Transmission shifts firmly. Body is very solid including the floors frame rails trunk and rockers. Both doors close solidly with no sag or rattling. There are a few small spots of rust starting on the pass side lower rear quarter (about the size of a dime) and the pass side rear quarter fender lip. There is also a spot of rust on the trunk lid about the size of a dollar and surface rust along the front edge of the hood. Last spot of rust in the rear window channel that will have to be patched a section about 1" long a typical rust area for these cars from what I understand. Bumpers are solid but have surface rust. Car has the original 4 wheel power drum brakes that work as well as drum brakes will work on a big heavy car. Car's vinyl roof was in bad shape so it was removed. I have all of the trim for the rear window. The following work was done to the car in the past few months - new gas tank gas line fuel pump complete carb rebuild (original Holley) new water pump intake manifold gaskets hoses belts brake lines master cylinder brakes alternator radiator carpeting front seat covers valve cover gaskets STAINLESS STEEL 2 1/2" dual exhaust with 3" tail pipes. Engine bay is VERY clean as is the engine. Interior is in VERY nice shape although the padded center section of the door panels is starting to pull away around the edges. KNOWN DEFECTS/COMMENTS: Car originally had A/C but it was non-functioning so the previous owner removed it. I DO NOT have any of the parts. Only high beams work very likely a bad dimmer switch haven't had time to dig into it. Tires have decent tread but I would replace them before driving it for any long distances. Floors are rock solid but there is some minor surface rust in spots...NO heaving flaking or pitting. Hideaway headlights do NOT work although the doors are there. Hideaways do not appear to have been messed with. Overall this is a very solid original car that could be an awesome ride with minimal bodywork paint and some TLC. Car is located in Stratford CT and is available for viewing. Connecticut is a NON TITLE STATE for cars over 10 years old so the car will come with an official State of CT bill of sale. |
