Description of 1978 Datsun Z-Series

This car was a labor of love, continuously being improved and worked on by the owner until he finally bit the bullet and did the turbo engine swap.
The engine and 5 speed manual transmission came out of a wrecked low-mileage 1982 280zx. The engine bolts right up but some minor modifications needed to be made to accommodate the T5 transmission. The radiator was upgraded to a new three row aluminum unit and an electric fan was installed. The air filter was also upgraded to a reusable high-flow cone filter.
One thing to watch out for with old Datsuns is rust.... this car does not have a speck! The floor pans and frame rails are rock solid. Not to mention the quarter panels and battery tray, two spots that seem to get it the worst. This car has been a pampered toy its whole life and it shows.
There are no rips, tears, or blemishes of any kind in the seats, headliner, or carpet. The glass is invisible with no sand marks, dings, or signs of age. The dash has had a complete dash kit installed and is indistinguishable from the factory one.
The tires are newish Falkens with about 90-95% tread remaining.
The speedometer works perfectly with both the mileage and the trip odometer keeping track of each joyous mile. The tachometer shows the rpms correctly and has no trouble climbing up to 7,000 on highway on ramps. The oil pressure, temperature, and voltmeter all work flawlessly. The fuel gauge sender was replaced when the tank was removed and professionally cleaned by Anglin Brothers Radiator.
The head unit and speakers are a bit dated and will need attention from the winning bidder. Or you can do like I do and just listen to the beautiful sound of the turbo!
