Beautifully restored 1972 240z. I purchased this z car from Arizona in 2010 and have fully restored it over the past 8 years. The car was fully dismantled the body was sanded down to the bare metal, (NOT MEDIA BLASTED). Every subcomponent was either restored or replaced. The engine was removed, the block number of 2002, was Magnafluxed and dye penetrated to check for any cracks. The cylinders were bored out to 0.60 over and a custom set of pistons were manufactured and installed. A rebuilt E-88 head was installed on the engine, the dual round top SU carburetors were stripped and refurbished professionally by the ZCARSOURCE. The exhaust manifold was ceramic coated in order to assist in heat dissipation. The valve covered was polished and shines like chrome. The 4 speed manual transmission was disassembled and inspected, surprisingly it was in outstanding condition and no new internal parts were required. A OEM exhaust system is installed on the car including a NOS down pipe and rear muffler all welded together, no clamps! The rear differential was also disassembled and inspected, a new gasket was installed. The two half shafts were disassembled, inspected and new U-joints installed on both. The same with the drive shaft(propeller) it had new U joints installed. The front suspension subcomponents were media blasted and powder coated gloss black, the McPherson strut assemblies were disassembled, media blasted and painted with epoxy paint, new strut cartridges were installed on all four strut housings. New coil springs were also installed on all four units. The rear wishbone suspension arms were media blasted and powder coated in gloss black, the drive shaft and half axles were painted gloss black with epoxy paint. The gas tank was drained, sanded down to bare metal and painted gloss black, the interior of the tank was cleaned with a three stage tank cleaning solution and then coated. All of the brake and fuel lines were replaced with new steel lines, the front brake calibers were replaced with new, the front rotors were also replaced with new high performance slotted rotors. The rear brake drums were media blasted and painted and new brake hardware installed. There has been a OEM refurbished brake boosted installed as well as new OEW brake and clutch master cylinders. A new aftermarket windsheild wiper washer bottle has been installed along with new washer hose lines. The wiper motor is a OEM refurbished motor which works stronger and faster then the original motor and it also has a homing switch, no more slow lazy wiper blades! A new three core radiator, NOT OEM, was installed to keep the engine nice and cool. A new OEM engine compartment inspection light has been installed along with a new OEM voltage regulator. ALL OF THE ENGINE BAY HARDWARE HAS BEEN STRIPPED AND REPLATED IN IT'S ORIGINAL YELLOW CADMIUM OR SLIVER ZINC PLATED. All new reproduction decals have been applied in the correct locations. The air cleaner housing was media blasted and powder coated in the original Datsun orange. The OEM air induction hose off of the air cleaner has also been installed. Everything on the engine is period correct and OEM, nothing was overlooked except those parts which were not available and which I have listed as aftermarket. The Body was sanded down to bare metal, all rotted metal was cut out, panels were removed using Blair spot weld cutters and new panels plug welded back in place in order to duplicate the original factory assembly. New floor pans and supports were installed as well as rear inner wheel wells and dog legs on both sides of the car. The seam at the sail and roof line was grounded out due to a crack and the joint welded and leaded as it was in the factory. The car was skimmed with polyester filter to give it the finest paint finish. The car was painted with PPG paint products with a finish body color of PPG Deltron paint custom mixed to match the Datsun 901 paint code. The car was painted with 5 coats of base color and 5 coats of clear coat. The entire body of the car was painted to include the interior cabin, the underside, the underside of the front fenders and all compartments. Sound deadening material was installed on the interior of the entire cabin including the roof, new red vinyl, including the headliner, and a black carpet kit was installed. The dash board was stripped down to it's metal frame and refoamed and covered professionally making it better than new. New door cards have been installed as well as new plastic interior trim parts. A new OEM wood shifter knob was installed and the steering wheel was professionally restored and shows NO signs of any wear even on the back knobs which are typically worn though displaying none of the wood grain. The seats were disassemble, the frames were sanded down and repainted and new foam and seat covers were installed making them like brand new. All of the small items such as the dome light, glove box door emblem and map light are OEM NOS. The radio is the original Hitachi AM/FM push button radio which has been professionally restored and the power antenna is a NOS antenna, still have the box it came in! The steel rims on the car are original and are stamped 1972 and have the black interior paint and silver exterior paint, OEM correct. The hub caps are also OEM and are in like new condition. The luggage straps are in place and the tool kit and scissor jack is OEM original and like new. The tool box liners are in new condition with no tears! All of the original paperwork is in the car along with owners manual and the operating manual for the radio. This car is better than when it rolled off the factory floor. This car drives like a dream, straight with no rattles or annoying thumps, lumps or bumps. Please remember this car is 47 years old. It has no power steering, only rack and pinion, no power brakes, no air condition and was meant to be driven! If you have never driven a car of this age you will have a rude awakening! I strongly encourage any serious buyers to come inspect the car and drive it. I have a lift in my garage so you may also inspect the underside of the car. This has been a long, tedious and expensive restoration. With that being said the reserve price is set accordingly. Please only serious bidders! This will have to be a cash and carry transaction conducted in my local bank. I have the titled free and clear and I also have complete restoration notes, receipts and over 1000 photographs of the restoration project from the day I received the car from Arizona until completion. You will be hard pressed to find another 1972 240z like this one. Thank you for looking and good luck bidding!
