Description of 1946 Dodge 1/2-Ton Pickup |
Stunning 1946 Dodge WC Pickup - Show Quality Restoration - One Family Since New! To put it simply, Dodge never made a 1946 Pickup this nice! This amazing half-ton truck is a "one-footer"; the closer you get, the better it looks! The classic red and black paint finish is of the highest quality and polished to brilliance. You know how some paint jobs show swirls and scratches when seen from the right angle? Not the case for this truck! It's a scavenger hunt to find any blemishes at all. Dodge trucks made between 1939 and 1947 were called "Job Rated" trucks, and were built tougher than their predecessors thanks to stronger steel and design improvements. WWII forced Dodge to dedicate their output to Uncle Sam, but they were able to resume civilian production two hours after the last military truck rolled off the line. Normally, the exterior design of the truck would have been updated more in eight years, but wartime served as a time warp. We're glad not much changed, because it looks great the way it is! All the details that make old trucks cool are there, including big headlights on the fenders, lots of grille area, running boards, and a magnificent wood bed. The engine power improved, up to 95hp from 75hp, and torque to 172ft/lbs. Postwar trucks also benefited from a strengthened chassis and clutch housing, and a higher capacity radiator. Upon arrival at Art & Speed, our intake inspection found that a carb rebuild and master cylinder replacement were all that was needed to get this working beauty up to snuff. We completed the work, and though now over seventy years old, the truck still drives well, shifts nicely through the gears, and stops just fine. It was used for work as a service truck, but has now been restored beyond new. Inside, work-truck basic might appear spartan by modern standards, but simple is good when a bench seat and a stock dash are all you need to get from points A to B. Restoration quality on the inside, by the way, stands up to the scrutiny of a one-foot inspection just as well as the outside, undercarriage and engine compartment. Call Art & Speed at (901) 850-0507 to learn more about this stunning truck and how to make it yours. Get ready to be the center of attention, because everyone's your friend when you're driving this truck.
