Description of 1954 Dodge D100 Pickup |
This 1954 Dodge D100 Sho, Street Rod Truck was bought by my friend a couple yrs ago. He purchased the truck from the builder, had it shipped to his residence and unloaded into his garage. After the purchase and awaiting the delivery he bacame terminaly ill.He never had the chance to drive and enjoy the truck he bought. It sat in his garage covered and started occasionaly to keep the truck in running condition by his brother. My friend passed away last fall 2022.His widow asked if I would help her sell this truck, of course I said yes. Leave me give you a little background about me.I currently own and operate a custom building Motorcycle facility in Ohio. Previously I owned and operated a Custom Restoration Auto and Truck facility in Pennsylvania. My shop had built numerous Street Rods and Restored Classic Cars and Trucks. Enough said about me and my background in these fields. I had inspected this truck after delivery and was quite impressed as to the quality and workmanship applied to this build. The Paint and Body work is of professional show quality. I found no flaws in any of the work. The trucks cab is a 5 window factory design and all of the cab glass were polished to perfection. All of the trucks weather stripping and gaskets were replaced with new. The tilt front clip works flawlessly as do the butterfly hood sections. The front tilt while closed is fastened with heavy rubber straps the style found on semi trucks.I was expecting some hood wobble while driving the truck but seen absolutelyl no movement. The tilt opening where it contacts the firewall and cab have webbing strips to protect the paint and underside finish. Very well done. The Hydralic truck bed is beautifully finished in wood and poilshed seperators. The Hydralic system also works flawlessly. The mechanical work performed on this truck was also impressive, from the late model doner truck frame being shortened to accommoodate the early Dodge cab and bed to the brake line and fuel line routings and electrical systems. The rear suspension had been converted from the original leaf springs to coilovers and a 4 link system and the front coil spring suspension also converted to coilovers. The entire powertrain had been rebuilt which included the 5.7 Hemi engine, Automatic Transmission and Rear Differential from the doner truck.I drove the truck and the engine performance and transmission shifting were on point. The ride and comfort of the truck were also on point, comfortable but a very solid noise free ride. Well now that I have gone into detail on this truck and explained it's forthcoming and build quality. I'm positive you can't build a truck of this caliber and quality at todays prices and get what this truck has to offer. Especially with actually with on a few thousand miles on this truck that the builder put on. To do this intence of a build today you would be in the range of $60-70k investment and hope your getting this quality of a build. |
