Description of 1969 Ferrari 365GT |
The 1969 Chicago Motor Show Car! 1969 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Coup Chassis No. 12223 Numbers-Matching Engine with Matching # 891Body Stampings The 365 GT 2+2 was built for the sporting enthusiast with additional comfort, giving the quintessential 1960s vintage Ferrari experience with the last of the curvaceous Pininfarina-bodied grand tourers, powered by the final iteration of the Colombo V-12 two-cam engine. The inclusion of additional convenience and luxury features further enhanced the car's drivability, while the familiar front-mounted 4.4 liter V12 and striking Pininfarina styling ensured that the car retained all of the traditional positive Ferrari traits. Often called the "baby Superfast" it has a timeless style and uncompromising performance, so common among the greatest Ferrari's classics Grand Touring cars. 12223 was completed in February 1969 (Assembly Sequence #391) and delivered new to Chinetti Motors for display at the 1969 Chicago Motor Show in stunning Blu Ribot (dark blue) paint 2.443.631 over Beige leather VM 3218, in U.S. Specification, optioned with Power Windows, Power Steering & Air Conditioning. It subsequently passed through the hands of a few loving U.S. caretakers, (as documented by Mr. Peter Perry a steward of the Queen Mother from 1998-2004) taking up residence in the Pacific Northwest from the late-1980's until 2015. The current recorded mileage of 55,430 tracks consistently and is believed to be accurate and original. Its current paint scheme was applied in the 1990's, while the tan leather upholstery and black carpeting was freshened around 1980. Both appear in good driver quality condition, especially the upholstery, which attests to the quality of materials and worked performed 35 years ago. Its preserved luggage compartment houses a matching Chromodora spare. While a running, driving, braking car, due to a long period of storage the Ferrari is in need of a major tune up and top end rebuild at a minimum before road use to reach its full and celebrated performance potential that these Queen Mothers famously exude. We also feel the car would benefit greatly if taken back to its original factory color of Blue Ribot. Ferrari's 365 GT 2+2 is a gentleman's sports car with the pedigree to match. This example has a great history attached to it. It is attractively priced and with room to do the needed work, this rare 365 GT presents a great opportunity.
