Description of 1986 Ford Mustang GT |
This is a very rare 1986 Mustang GT because it has not been raced, beaten, or modified. * original paint *original interior *original wheels (but re-cleared in clear powder coat) *original engine, transmission (clutch replaced) * no accidents *original headlights, fog lights, fog light covers *original and functional rear hatch cover *original premium stereo with digital radio and cassette player (another rarity among the 86's) *1986 was the first year for fuel injection and the 8.8 differential and last year for the 4 headlight body style Car was was purchased from a collector 4 years ago and freshened up to make it a reliable driver for for shows and Sunday drives. The car received and extensive tune-up receiving the following; *new OEM replacement water pump (original professionally rebuilt and stored) *new heater core (improved design from the weak original, this one has a lifetime warranty and is made of aluminum which transfers heat faster and the heat is very hot. *new A/C dryer and hose and R134a conversion (fittings) and blows ice cold air. *new Goodyear Gatorback tires, exactly like the originals. *front brake stock replacement brake pads (NAPA), stock replacement rotors (TireRack), front wheel bearings (same as OEM), replaced internals of the master cylinder but kept the original master cylinder itself since aluminum (all other 86 Fords had cast iron) and it had not failed. *Rear brake shoes (Ford), springs, clips and wheel cylinders (NAPA). Original drums were in great shape. Replace all fluids, hoses, serpentine belt, battery (Ford OEM) and all filters. *New spark plus (NGK), spark plug wires (stock replacement by Taylor), rotor and cap (Ford). *Stainless steel mufflers by Dynmax (originals were broken internally and had pin holes around welds) and Flow Master stainless steel tail pipes (only one that had the right fit) (kept the original stainless steel tailpipes which can be reused. *When rear axle fluid was chaanged,the locking capabilty of the infamous Ford "Traction -Lock differential" were below specs, they were replaced with a set of clutches from Ford Performance and are the same ones Ford use on the Shelby GT500 differential. The axle was also upgraded to a 3,37 gear for fuel economy and better around town driveability. (All removed parts are saved). Speedometer gear matches new axle ratio. In the process, all bearings were changed to new Timken bearings (same as OEM) and nw stock replacement axles (made by the same company that makes them for Ford) were installed due to the axle bearings rusted from sitting. *windows have been tinted and an alarm system added. Numerous other details were cleaned, adjusted, and fixed. As a result, the car is super reliable, starts immediately and runs like it's 1986 all over again. Runs like new. Better than a restored car, since it is only original once and this one is so well conserved, it's time capsule. The car includes a $300 custom made super soft car cover, original brochure, window sticker, owner's manual, shop manuals, and all original parts replaced for maintenance purposes.
