Description of 1952 Ford F3 Pickup |
This is my 1952 Ford F3 that started life as a West Penn Electric truck until 1959 when it was retired. I was told it was purchased in 1959 by the family I bought it from in the fall of 2012. The F3 is the "heavy" model comparable to a modern F350, is rated at a ton, and has a full 8 foot bed, heavy duty frame and suspension, and larger wheels. They are much rarer than the standard, light duty F1 with the shorter bed. The truck has the original 215 cubic inch OHV in-line 6 cylinder engine with a 3 speed manual on the floor. It has just over 86,500 original miles. The carburetor has been rebuilt and retains the original glass float bowl. The truck’s electrical system has been converted from the original 6 volt positive ground to a 12 volt negative ground system. Other renovations and improvements include:•Body work and custom paint by Benyou’s Auto Body•New aluminum radiator•New stainless steel radiator hoses•New distributor cap and internal wiring•New points, condenser, plugs, and wires•New battery, coil, solenoid •New alternator•New fan belts•New fuel pump•New thermostat•New 2 trumpet air horn•New halogen headlights with direct relay wiring•Custom turn signals, taillights, and back-up lighting•New 14 gauge electrical wiring throughout with new fuse box•All new voltage regulators as required for the 6V to 12V upgrade•All gauges work•New third brake light above rear window•Rebuilt Magic Air heater•New flooring, insulation with sound dampening, and carpet•Custom diamond plate kick panels•Diamond plate lined glove box•Bucket seats with seatbelts, armrests, and cup holders•New padded steering wheel •New interior lighting•Gas tank relocated out of the cab to rear of frame•New 11 gallon poly fuel tank with right rear fender fill cap•New gas line•New fuel sender unit and wiring•New steel brake lines•New master cylinder•Updated 16†rims•LT215/85r16 Peerless tires •New windshield, rear window, door glass, and vent window glass•New weather stripping and anti-rattle kit•Rebuilt door regulators•Doors insulated and sound dampened •New 5 inch stainless rearview mirrors•Custom aluminum diamond plate running boards The heater and windshield wipers have been installed but are not wired. As you can see, the truck has a customized bed made of PVC board. The truck originally had a unique bed given its history as a utility truck. I was only able to save the fenders and the rare, short tailgate. The bed was designed to incorporate the uniqueness of the tailgate. The “Bob’s Big Boy†bobble head conveys with the truck – it’s the truck’s mascot. Car cover included. I have a clean Pennsylvania title. The truck is not licensed. |
