Rare Jaguar V12 Roadster Same Owner 30 years The same owner has owned this Jaguar E Type that you will read about in this eBay auction for 30 years. It has been their only collectible car and has been well cared for the entire time. All maintenance during this time has been done by Master Mechanics or certified Jaguar mechanics. If you have been watching the market you know that certain cars have started to become shooting stars in the marketplace and include Ferrari. some Mercedes and Jaguar XKEs. If you have followed the classic car market over the last 30 years as MissChiTown has studied it you will realize that the higher multiple cylinder engines of a particular brand and series eventually will always sell for much more then the lesser number cylinder engines. That is exactly the way that MissChiTown feels about V12 Jaguars. Currently they sell for less money then the XKE six cylinders but we feel that they are destined to sell for higher prices then the six cylinders in the future. With all that in mind we would always recommend a V12 Jaguar as an excellent current investment. Besides that the V12s are very nimble. very quick and have plenty of interior legroom. The owner of the Jaguar in this ad has shown this car for the first couple of decades that he owned it and the last ten years has used it in a very minimalistic way for driving around town and short trips. He has found it to be always dependable and runs great and has never let him down. The following is the seller’s history and description of the car for your edification and evaluation. Fact Sheet: 1974 Jaguar Series III E-type Convertible. British Racing Green with biscuit interior and black top. Purchased in July 1984 from original owner. a Washington DC journalist who was going overseas on assignment. Purchase from original owner’s mechanic. a factory-trained Jaguar mechanic who had been maintaining the car. This mechanic. continued to maintain the car for us for many years until his retirement. The car was then maintained by a Jaguar expert until we moved in 2011. The car is now maintained by a master mechanic. In its entire history. the car has always been garaged and never driven in wet or inclement weather. The car has never been in an accident. From 1984 to the mid-90s. seller’s entered the car in several shows. Their highest award this car received was a Second Place in a car show. For the last 10 years. the car has not been shown and simply driven for pleasure. less than 500 miles each year. When purchased in 1984. the car had 34. 64 miles on it. The mileage. as of Nov. 2014. is 58. 89. Over the 30 years we have owned the car most trips were to Jag Club events or visiting friends. Trips ranged from 20 to 200 miles. No trips longer than a few hundred miles were taken. Upon purchase in 1984 and with the mechanics strong suggestion. he installed a “super cooler” radiator and moved parts of the electronic ignition system to a cooler location. This has significantly improved the cars performance. A new stainless-steel exhaust system was put in shortly after. Oil changes. tune-ups. and other normal maintenance have been performed regularly. The 4 Stromberg carburetors were completely cleaned and re-built in 2002. New hoses have been put in several times. Tires have less than 10. 00 miles of wear on them. In June 2013 the brake system was completely redone along with normal maintenance (oil change. tune-up. etc. ). In addition to the modified radiator and ignition system. the radio is no longer original having been upgraded with a modern Pioneer system. The speakers have also been replaced with new as the originals had failed. The original Smith clock has been replaced with a new quartz unit. The car was repainted in its original BRG color in 1988 and other than some minor road nicks. is still in outstanding condition. In 2012 the original interior was completely replaced with factory spec material from OSJI (there is a slight tear and photo is available). This included the convertible top. The car has a factory original air conditioning system from Frigidaire. It does not work due to a leak in a line behind the dashboard. We have never attempted to repair it (it is a convertible!). The car also has a very small low-level leak in its “rear main seal” (so I’ve been told). The result is some oil is thrown onto the rear of the engine compartment. The effect is that when the car is started cold and warms up (necessary). the oil is burned off quickly. This does not impact the performance or drivability of the car. Amazingly enough. the car does not leak oil and does not leave stains on the garage floor. Other than the above. everything else on the car functions. Seller installed a battery disconnect (photo available). It is a blast to own and drive but as we approach 70-years old. we are traveling more. wintering in Florida. and have turned our attention to boating. We hardly drive the car now. It needs a new caretaker and home. PLEASE VIEW PHOTOS AND VIDEOS - Viewers: please note: in the pictures of the bottom of our Jag. that is NOT mud or dirt that you see. I washed the car before I took the pictures - it is spotless! That is a reflection of our gravel driveway in the paint! (Seriously!) If you are looking for one of the best designed Jaguars ever that has plenty of power for acceleration and high speed touring. and is poised to be a ‘shooting star’ collectible. we would advise that you give this car your serious consideration for your collection. To top everything off we feel that the British Racing Green is the best color for this car aesthetically. This car is documented by the Jaguar Heritage Trust and the private information has been deleted upon the request of the owner. We prefer our questions by phone call at 847-774-4857.
