I have for sale an impeccable. beautifully maintained and lovingly cared for 1978 Mercedes Benz 300CD naturally aspirated 5 cylinder diesel. The car only has 74. 49 original actual miles since new and is fully loaded. There have only been two owners until 2015. The car was bought new at Don Rasmussen Mercedes in Portland. Oregon. The first owner traded the car in at the dealer in 1989 for a new Mercedes when he was 80 years old. The car only had 57. 92 miles at that time. The second owner. now close to 80 years old. took incredible care of the car. putting only 16. 00 miles on it over 26 years. He kept the car garaged with a cover on it since purchasing it . The car comes complete with original owner’s manual. service book stamped with all services. warranty booklet. production build card. warranty data plate. Blaupunkt radio books. original tools and bags. jack. original Dunlop spare tire. original dealer license plate frame and dealer key chain. The car is in mint condition looking almost as new. The 100% original interior is in new condition with no sun fading or cracking anywhere. The paint and body are spectacular with no dings or dents. The paint is 90% original and the body is 100% rust free having no rust ever. In 1989. when Mercedes reconditioned the car for re-sale. the hood and tops of the front fenders were re-sprayed to repair road chips. I just replaced the Pirelli P44 tires pictured with four new Michelin Defender XT tires. The Pirellis were dated March of 1988 and were likely the tires installed by the dealer before re-sale the second time. The car is in excellent mechanical condition. It drives. shifts. stops and rides like it did when new. Everything on the car is working as it should including the clock and factory air conditioning. The A/C has just been professionally serviced and charged with original R-12 refrigerant. The heat and climate control work perfectly. The brakes were just inspected and the pads are like new all around. The front rotors are like new and have very few miles since installed. The only item needing attention is the driver’s side seat adjustment handle. The plastic knob has broken off the seat lever. This car is ready for show!
