Description of 1970 MG MGB Coupe GT

Up for auction is amy very nice 1970 MGB GT ( non-overdrive ). This is the rare "Split Rear Bumper" model with very nice factory wire wheels. I purchased the car from my brother who lost interest after rebuilding the motor and I've spent roughly 6 months getting her to this stage. I just spent a massive amount of money ( close to $6,000 ) on the car as you will read / see. This is a "Turn Key" car. I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding. This is not your run of the mill MGB GT so please take your time and read the auction in its entirety. This one of the very few GT's up for private sale and is selling to the highest bidder this week. Dealers are asking well into the mid teens for cars of this condition and none are numbers matching like this one. This is your chance!! So with a starting price of $1.00 bid now and bid often as she's going to a new home this week. Again, this is a NO reserve auction so don't ask me what the reserve price is as there isn'tone. High bidder takes her home.
Heritage:Thisis a true numbers matching car as I understand it.The production date is February 1970,commission number is GHD5UA199670G and the engine number is 18G-WE-H-31345. You can order the British Heritage Certificate from England. It takes about 4 weeks to arrive. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/store/Mechanicals:The car runs and drives Great! The engine bay is very, very nice and tidy. The car recently was gone through which includeda tune up,oil change, new oil filter, new air filters, new air cleaner connector seals / gaskets, new distributor, new distributor cap, new rotor button, new ignition wires, new spark plugs, recent new alternator, new fan belt, new battery, new upper / lower radiator hoses, new radiator coolant, new brake master cylinder, new clutch master cylinder, carburetors professionally serviced / tuned / balanced, new fuel filter, recent fuel pump, new choke cable and a new rear muffler was installed. Might be a few more other things done but can't think of them now. The car starts right up withno issues orsmoke. Engine is tight and I find no fluid drips or leaks anywhere under the car at this time. The brakes and clutchpeddles are strong and firm. The car shifts up / down through all the gears with no issues or noises from the transmissionor the rear end. Note: My brother was the previous owner of the car with 40+ years as a mechanic and stated he rebuilt about 16 months ago and only has test miles on the engine. He stated he also installed a new clutch kit at the time of engine rebuild. While I have no documentation of the engine rebuilt I trust he did the work. Given how well the car runs, engine condition and visual inspection of the engine / transmission I'd say that the work was done. Again, car needs nothing I know of at this time.
Electrical's:This area is in very, very good condition. I just had everything professionally gone through and you won't find and of those dreaded "Lucas Gremlins" here. The following items are in proper working order: headlights ( high & low beam) wor, wipers work, front & rearturn signals work, front & rear running lights work, front / rear side marker lights work, brake lights work, backup lights work, license plate lights work, hazard switch works, fan motor works, windshield washer fluid motor works, lighter works, rear seat dome light works and even the map light works. Try to find a MGB in this condition and you'll be looking for a very, very long time.Gauges:All gauges are correct and original "Smith" brand and are in working order at thistime.
Interior: This is gonna be a long list as I just spent well over $3,000 on a new complete interior. The following items where all professionally just installed using all Moss parts. New front seats, new front seat rails, new aircraft style chrome latch lap seat belts, new shifter boot, new chrome shift ring and screws, new correct chrome lid ashtray, new rear seat ( bottom & back ), new correct loop style carpet kit including trunk area, new MG logo floor mats, front new door panels, new front door caps, new window winders, new door pulls, new dash cap, all new interior panels including rear seating area, front kick panels and rear "C" pillar panels, new rear window caps, new rear window seals, new door seals, new inner & outer door window seals, new rear seat area dome light, new hazard switch, new fan switch, new headlight switch, new turn signal switch with wiring harness, new wiper switch with wiring harness and probably some other items I might have missed. Note: car still retains its original British Leyland AM /FM radio. Exterior:Shows nice ( a good wax job would make it look even better). No color change here as she's still in the original Bronze Yellow. Not a show car looks nice for a 48 year old car. The carsitsnicely on the ground with no leaning, sagging or any signs of the dreaded MG "Squatting or Leaning"issues. Look at howwellthe body, hood, trunk and doors fit. As seen all body panels, hood, trunk anddoors are laser straight. No paint bubbles anywhere on the car that I can find. I've been over the car and I've yet to find a single dent or ding on the car ( unheard of for a 48 year old car ). While I'm no expert I find no evidence of rust / rust repairs to any of the exterior body panels ( all original steel body panels ).The wire wheels are in nice condition. I just had the following items replaced / installed: new complete front bumper kit with over riders, new chrome fresh air intake, new chrome wiper arms, new chrome wiper blades, new front side maker kits with new lens, new rear turn signal lens, new back up light leans and new rear deck lid badges ( special ordered from the UK ). A nice driver quality appearing car. Note: Its hard to see but there is a crack in the front windshield but don't fret the car comes with a NEW in the box front windshield and windshield gasket ( both ordered directly from Moss Motors and still in the original shipping box ).
Trunk:The truck is rock solid.
Underbody:I can't get under the car due to a recent back injury but as I recall she looked pretty nice. I'll try to get underbody photos available by mid next week.Shipping:If you need to have the car shipped to your location here in the states you can get a fast and free online quote from Able Auto Transport at: http://www.ableautotransport.com/
Offers:While this is a NO reserve auction I reserve the right to sell her at anytime. Your offers should be respectful of the cars Heritage ( Numbers matching ), cars condition and current market prices. Please note I'll only use eBay's prescribed methods and procedures for selling the car. So don't ask me to sell outside of eBay as I will not respond to your email. If you want her now just email mail me an offer and I'll get back to you.

Overseas Bidders:Yes the auction is open to overseas bidders. The auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Schumacher Cargo Logisticsshipping for fast free quotes ( http://www.schumachercargo.com/ ).I'm not an expert and my opinion ofthe car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or extra photoslet me knowprior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. No warranties / guarantees are expressed or implied. Due to cars age she is being sold "as is" and mileage exempt. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auctions end time.
