Description of 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Ninety Eight |
I purchased this Barn find 1959 Oldsmobile with the best intentions to restore to match the one that my grandparents had when new. Ok so that didn't go as planned, this Oldsmobile has been off the road for the better part of the last 40 years. These Oldsmobile Convertibles are getting very hard to find, please read the description carefully, the pictures should be very explanatory of the condition of this automobile. The floors are bad in this car, for some reason they rotted out and left all of the braces intact and in good condition, the front seat is still attached, the frame in this car is in excellent condition, there is some trunk floor in the car, there is rust in the trunk lip on the drivers side. The cowl is in good condition, the doors open and close very well with good gaps, the top frame is in good condition, it is in the lowered position and I have not been able to get it raised. All of the side glass is cracked, I believe it was broken when stored in the barn, obviously by hooligans. The rear quarter glass frames are not broken, the passenger side door glass frame is in the trunk, there is a rear seat bottom, it is not in good condition. The rear shelf where the top mounts is in good shape, and the top motor is in the car, so are both pistons for the roof. Equipment includes, power steering, power brakes, wonder bar radio, two tone paint, in Polaris white / Golden poly mist, with matching two tone leather, the car rolls and steers for loading on transport, we had it fired up on an auxiliary fuel source, you are not driving her home, really you are not. The correct vin tag is affixed in the correct place, the trim tag is on the firewall as well. Please look at the pictures carefully, I bought a parts car, it is a 1959 88 four door sedan, it has a good trunk lid, according to the interchange the same, it has a much straighter front bumper, some wheel lip trim, all the door lock cylinders, the letters that are missing from the 98 across the tail panel, the ignition switc, and many other bits and pieces, it can come with this car, or you can strip it and take what you need, the parts car has no engine or trans or interior, it is strictly a roller, it also has a good no rust back bumper, which the center is the same as the 98, only ends need to be changed out.. I have provided a lot of information, I hope I did not bore you with details, I am not selling on here to surprise anyone on condition if you are the winning bidder, I will give and honest description, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have, please read this, and re-read if necessary to understand this is a great project but needs total restoration, please be serious when bidding, and be able to complete the sale, do your research, contact your shipper, make sure this is the project for you, overseas buyers are welcome, and we can assist with getting it to the shippers in Central NJ,, we can work out the parts details from the parts car, to make this as complete as I can.
