Description of 1939 Oldsmobile L-39 |
1939 Oldsmobile L-39 "80" Series Sedan Coupe
Honest car with the expected scratches and dings of a car that is seventy-two (72) years old. AND STILL RUNNING STRONG. Recently tuned and freshened original inline straight 8 boasting 257 cubic inches and 110 horsepower with a 3-speed manual non-synchromesh transmission.
Built in Michigan and purchased new in New Jersey, it made its way to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum where it was housed and admired until sold and moved to New Hampshire. It was sold again in March of 2017 and moved to Massachusetts by a member of the Bay State Antique Auto Club.
It has been driven about town and used in parades on nice sunny days.
It received a third-place award for its class at the 2017 World of Wheels show in Boston, Massachusetts.
It has an appealing black exterior with grey cloth interior! Headliner is intact and worry-free. Rear passenger side seat has some blemishes apparently from a dog scratching but otherwise sound.
Driven very little since purchased and always garaged, this Oldsmobile is Handsome. Look at Photos to see the attention to detail. Engine and Undercarriage is in excellent condition. This is a real Showpiece.
Original Steering Wheel and Column Shifter.
Radio with local station call signs! Original Dash with operational temperature and oil pressure gauges.
The speedometer and odometer do not work. Shows 59,931 but true mileage is unknown.
Seats and pillars are in very good condition. Original Wheels and Hubcaps
Car is registered and driven on very nice days during summer, stored in dry warm storage in winter.
Massachusetts title is clear and in my name.
Old Cars Report Price Guide for September/October 2019 lists a #3 example at $13,820 and a #2 at $21,490. I would say this car is in the middle.
