Description of 1964 International Harvester Scout |
This 1964 Scout 80 was professionally restored in 2010. Originally purchased in Utah and shipped to North Florida for full restoration. There was very little rust when it was originally purchased in Utah. During restoration. everything was sandblasted to bare metal. NO RUST remains after restoration. The paint colors are true to the period. Be ready to attract lots of attention when you drive it. It’s a true head turner. The photos don’t do it justice. RESTORATION (request photos of the restoration via "Ask Seller a Question" link):Everything was disassembled to bare base body and sandblasted including roof. dash. doors. hood. tailgate. bumpers. spare tire rack. wheels. gas tanks. radiator. front grill. fenders. mirrors. window regulators and window channelsEverything primed with Epoxy primer including box where the auxiliary gas tank is mounted. underside of body. body. doors. hardware for doors. etc. All panels were blocked and body filler was used to ensure smooth and accurate body linesAll new window anti-rattle kits were purchased and installedRebuilt transmissionRebuilt carburetorRebuild clutchNew brakesNew radiatorAll new belts and hosesAll new weather-stripping and seals including windshield rubber. side glass and rear glass rubber for roof. new door seals. windshield gasket seal for lower windshield to body frame. new rear lift gate seals. tailgate seals and rubber bumpersAll new glass and window sealsRhino lining on interior floor and rear bedReplaced old vacuum wipers with new electric unitsInstalled Roll BarNew seat belts including 3 point belts added to front seatsNew JVC Stereo and Speakers (Radio. CD and MP3)New tires – new white spoke rims with new lug nuts. including spare MILEAGE: Actual mileage is unknown (odometer reads 27. 00). However. it’s been driven less than 1. 00 miles since restoration. This Scout has always been garaged since its restoration and only driven for “Sunday drives” in the country. THINGS TO CONSIDER: While all lights. including turn signals. and speedometer. odometer. horn. heater fan and stereo are in great working order. the gas gauge isn’t working. The Scout has 2 ten-gallon fuel tanks. we always make sure to have one topped off before heading out for a “Sunday drive. ” Also. the radiator for the heater has a small pin hole in it. so we've disconnected it. EXTRAS THAT GO WITH THE SCOUT: Original hubcaps (not shown in the photos). a custom top hoist and winch to remove the hardtop. original carburetor (if you ever need to rebuild the current one). Scout 80 Owner’s Manual and a Scout parts catalog. REASON FOR SELLING: My wife purchased the Scout and had it professionally restored for me as a surprise birthday gift in 2010 (milestone birthday). My best friend since childhood. who’s bought and restored dozens of cars through the years. oversaw and managed the professional restoration for my wife. To say the least. he made sure the restoration was perfect. While we have LOVED this Scout. our teenager needs a car and we don’t have the garage space for the Scout and another car. We’ve also developed new interests that don’t leave us much time for our “Sunday drives. ” My sacrifice. your gain.
