Its curvaceous lines are absolutely artful and sexy. This is truly rolling sculpture. This is the most rare body style with less than 20 known to be extant. This is one of the nicest of the 20 in existence. Imagine ordering a top-of-the-line luxury Packard in a two door version. These are collected only by the connoisseurs of fine motorcars- and ladies and gentlemen that enjoy driving their motorcars. At the heart of this great Packard is its drivetrain. The fabulous nine main bearing 356 cu in straight-eight engine is a legend in motoring history. Delivering 165 BHP and nearly unlimited torque. it delivers smooth and powerful driving that is completely dependable. Having a 127 inch wheelbase and coupled with a three speed with overdrive transmission it provides smooth and quiet highway speed touring and decent fuel economy. This motor was made famous by salesmen standing a nickel on its end and having it balance while the motor was idling. Alternatively. they would place a glass of wine on the engine and no waves or ripples would appear in the glass. This was a sign of a remarkably smooth and well balanced engine. The interior details include amboyna burl applique wood graining for the lower metal dash and window wainscoting. The upper dash and window moldings are executed in smokey pearl wood grain. Cloisonne medallions with the Packard Hex are on the hubcaps. This example has fender skirts. back-up light. accessory driving lights. dual outside mirrors. overdrive. heater. nbsp;a working radio (original vacuum tube model) and the rare Packard cloisonne winged emblem on the front bumper. This beautiful car started its life at Riley-Coles motors in Daytona. Florida where the original data plate on the cowl has a stamped delivery date of 9/9/47. which makes it the last known survivor of this model sold. This car was a 58. 00 mile vehicle when the previous owner acquired it in1999 and spared no expense in its restoration. The car was stripped down to the frame and everything was painstakingly restored and re-furbished. The engine was disassembled and showed so little wear that the original pistons were reinstalled with new rings. Bright work was replated and everything was done to make this perhaps the best Packard Custom Super Club Sedan in existence. Here is an opportunity to purchase a great classic Packard automobile which should excel in any competitive judging event. The only time the car was shown was at the prestigious Meadow-Brook Concours d'Elegance in 2006 where it won a Blue Ribbon Lion Award. After the show and award. the owner. a well known Packard collector. offered this car for sell to use the proceeds toward the restoration of the Packard proving ground in Detroit. The exterior is finished in a correct metallic Packard Blue and the interior is the correct blue wool broadcloth with contrasting off-white piping. The interior is just gorgeous. The original Packard radio is fully functioning. The odometer shows under 68. 00 miles which cannot be verified but is possibly original. This Packard is ready for a discerning collector who wants the very finest in elegance. style. beauty and engineering. There are less than 20 of these in the world and they are each owned by major collectors who use and enjoy them. Rarely are these motorcars made available.
