Although Packard's first attempt at a cheaper smaller model was a financial disappointment with the 1932 900 series, with deepening pressure from the continuance of the depression Packard had to do something to stay above water. So, in January of 1935 they introduced the 120 designated by its wheelbase. Unlike the earlier 900 series which used the same power plant as the larger standard eight, Packard created a new straight eight engine specific to the 120 which was four fifths the displacement of the larger eight, but making 85% of its power. The body design was all new and the 120 was also the first for Packard to have independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes. So popular was the 120 when it was introduced that 25,000 were sold in the first year which was three times as many of all the other Packard models combined. This saved Packard from from an early demise. The 1936 120 convertible coupe offered here is a very nice early example just out of a private long time ownership in Tennessee. Sold new at the Packard dealership, Westerterp Brothers, in Petaluma, California in 1936 this 120 is an extremely solid western car showing no signs of ever being in poor condition. All panels are extremely straight and it runs and drives wonderfully. Highly optioned with many period accessories including: dual side mount spare wheels with metal covers, trunk rack, Trippe driving lights and factory installed radio. 1936 was especially handsome for the 120 convertible coupe with a sleeker looking windshield without vent windows which were added for the 1937 model year. It was restored over 25 years ago but has been very well kept and stored in climate controlled conditions and well cared for. Cosmetically it presents extremely well, just being treated to a cosmetic detailing, and all brightwork is in great condition. Mechanically it has recently been serviced so it is in great mechanical working order, a pleasure to drive. If you are looking for a stellar 120 convertible coupe than this is the car for you as it has it all going for it.Contact us today for more information.Asking: $89,500
