Description of 1964 Pontiac Le Mans |
Looking for a solid car to restore? This 1964 Lemans convertible with Hurst 4 speed is just the ticket. Buy now and be ready to cruise this summer. This is probably one of the best cars available for the money and you will not be disappointed. I purchased this car recently with the intent to restore it. My wife is not into the resto - thing and so the car must go. I can tell you it is a beautiful and solid car to have. You will be confident with a finished restoration that this car is real steel and not some bondo bucket you would pay top dollar for and be disappointed with later. I will be honest with you in every detail so you can make a good decision. Body - As I can tell both rear quarters were skinned. The right rear was done correctly and the left needs to be re-done. Both doors are real nice. The left door is just perfect. the right door bottom needs a patch panel in the open corner. otherwise it is fine solid steel. The right front fender is like new. the left driver fender is terrible and so I purchased a new/used fender. not show. out of Texas which is very good with a little rust repair needed at the bottom. but otherwise it is a great fender. I was really please when it arrived. The inside of the trunk lid has some rust along the inside edge where it latches but this is a simple repair. The trunk is solid. the rocker panels. frame. and underside are really awesome. you will be impressed! The front bumper needs to be redone. the rear bumper is like new. both original steel. The chrome on the car is in great condition. just needs polish. Here is the rest of the car for your review as it was told to me when I purchased the car. It has a fresh rebuilt Pontiac 1973 400 engine 030 pump gas motor with lots of new parts. 1964 Borg Warner T10 4 speed with Hurst shifter. 12 bolt Pontiac rear end open unit. all new brake system. manual disk brakes up front with all new drum brakes on rear. Corvette master cylinder. all new lines and hoses. lots of new suspension parts. springs. shocks. bushings and steering parts. all the rubber seals are original but need replacing. New seat covers and door panels up front. original red rear seat. New red carpet. new white convertible top. Chevy rally rims with new tires. Headman headers. I have the rocker chrome not show. I also replaced the radiator with a new aluminum model from Summit Racing. Other new items - wiper blades. fan clutch. As you can see I started to get the parts for a restoration but had to put the breaks on it to keep the peace. The car is complete and it would not take much to make this a beautiful car. that you know will be done correctly. |
