Description of 1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom |
1964 Pontiac Tempest Custom - One owner car from 1964-2016 Vehicle History: Purchased off the original owner who took care of and babied this car for its entire life! Along with the car I have the original title, Original Pontiac window sticker, Protect - O plate, and what seems to be almost all service records for a long long time. The car was repainted once in the early 1980's by the original owner and was subsequently put away in storage for the next 30+ years. I have pictures of the repaint process to show how solid the car was before it was painted. It was just recently that the original decided to part with car but first the car was gone over thoroughly by a local mechanic ($2,300 worth) Vehicle Condition: First and foremost, the car needs paint and bumpers. I know the pictures look very good, and the car really does look good until you get up close and examine the paint. It was put in storage soon after its only Lacquer repaint in the 80's and the paint is doing what you would expect that old paint to do. Its cracking and has minor surface pimples nearly everywhere on the car. I attempted to take some pictures to show this but they are so small, you need to be right on the car to see them. The original bumpers were re-chromed at the time of repaint and will need to be re-chromed again. They are straight and fit well, but rusted and pitted in some areas. Most would probably get this car home and enjoy it the way it is, it looks very good and shines nicely. But to make it a jewel it needs paint. The rest of the car is very very nice. All of the stainless and aluminum looks great. No pitting, no scratches, it is bright and shines very well. All the vent window chrome is in excellent shape, side moldings look great etc. You can tell this car was taken care of and not messed with. The body on this car is extremely solid, there are no holes, no repairs of holes, and no big areas of surface rust. Door seams are all factory and crisp. All the fits on this car are great, no large or unusual gaps, better than most original cars out there. The doors shut perfect. The car is sitting on factory wheels with hubcaps that are near mint, recently cleaned, polished and painted, and a nice set of redlines. Underneath the car is solid, no rust or holes, as is the trunk. The interior is what you would expect for a car of this age that has been well taken care of. No rips in the original seat covers, the carpet is in nice shape only shows minimal wear, and the dash is near perfect along with the gauge cluster. Steering wheel has a couple cracks in it. Mechanically the car is extremely sound, and as it should be for a recent go over worth $2,300. Brake hoses, wheel cylinders, brake springs, front shoes, oil change, fuel hoses, carb tune up, plugs, points, condenser, and even the E brake was tested and in working condition. The car goes down the road straight, it is quieter than a new 2012 chevy that I drive to work every day, there isn't a rattle or squeak in this car! It is remarkable. It stops great, starts up with a simple turn of the key. It is ready to go. I try to list cars like this as descriptive and critical as possible in case you are not able to come view the car in person. That being said, if you are local or close and interested, please take the time to look at the car in person, you will not be disappointed! This is a perfect car to drive the way it is, a car you could put a nice motor in with a four speed, or even make a GTO clone. If you have any questions or need more information/pictures please email or call. 330-506-0855. The car is listed for sale locally, if the car sells before the reserve is met it will be removed. Please only bid if you are serious about owning this car. Thanks and good luck! |
