Description of 1964 Pontiac GTO |
EXTERIOR: Just finished body and paint restoration. I really like the color. The metal flake is laid out nicely and it has a deep clear coat finish that's been polished out real glossy. The body is straight and fits real nice. Trim is excellent. Upfront the grille has been detailed, bumper and emblem on the hood is new. All the stainless trim around the windows, gutters and on top of the doors has been polished. New mirror, original handles. In back the tail panel is new and so is the bumper. Door jambs were painted, weather strips are replaced. INTERIOR: Seats, door panels, armrests look like they've been reupholstered. Carpet has been replaced. Has the optional dash pad which is new. The metal trim is painted gloss black. Cool looking silver headliner and visors with stars embossed. Correct 4-speed console actually looks brand new. It has a factory tachometer in the dash and a few upgrades as well- retro stereo, vintage gauge cluster and a walnut steering wheel. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rebuilt 400 motor with tri-power carbs. It ran perfectly for me. Touched the key and it fired right up, idled as smooth as can be. New air cleaners, has a set of headers. It features power steering and power brakes with a dual reservoir master. Also has a modern radiator and new shroud. Alternator looks recent. The engine bay is painted gloss black. We have picture before restoration and GTO was written on the firewall so the assembly line workers knew what it was. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Solid metal with spatter paint. New two piece rubber mats. Has a jack and a spare. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb have been painted. New weatherstrip. My favorite part is the retractable trunk light, it should be on every car. It actually detaches and you can unspool it to reach to the front and then wind it back up when you're done. UNDERSIDE: Rebuilt suspension. Upfront the shocks, tie rod ends, balljoints, bushings were replaced. Has upgraded swaybar. In back it has upgraded gas shocks, boxed control arms and swaybar. Bottom of the motor is clean, has chrome oil pan and new starter. Rebuilt T-10 4-speed, new clutch, shift linkage and resurfaced flywheel. Has rebuilt driveshaft, u-joints replaced. Has a posi rear end with chrome cover. New brakes, upgraded to disc in front. New dual exhaust with crossover pipe. Floors are restored- all metal, cleaned and sealed. Chassis and frame were cleaned and painted semi gloss black. Overall very well restored GTO. Ready to experience a tri-power and a 4-speed? It's fun!
