1976 Porsche 912E 'Sunroof' Coupe #701/2100 built! Fully restored to include paint, rightwork, nterior and engine overhaul! Under 100k original miles on this are sunroof coupe with AC! Own the last of the rear-engine air-cooled fours! Superbly optioned and 100% ready to enjoy immediately! Hard to find 912E Sunroof Coupe! The Porsche 912 debuted shortly after its older brother, he 911, n 1965 as an entry level car with all of the same styling cues, lbeit with 4-cylinder power. The original 912 was sold alongside the 911 until 1969, hen it was discontinued as the 914 rose to fame. The 914 proved very successful and production lasted until 1976; coincidentally, he 911 was also going through several changes and the line-up was without a proper 4-cylinder car! Enter the 912E...specifically designed for the North American market, he new 912 boasted 911S bodywork and a new 2.0L VW engine with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection that took 2 years to design. Sporting the style of a 70s 911 with a more attractive price tag, he 912 served as an adequate interim automobile for Porsche as focus moved to the all-new 924 in the later part of the model year. The 912E survives as Porsche's last rear-engine 4 cylinder car, hich remained air-cooled. We couldn't be more excited to offer this 1976 Porsche 912E Sunroof Coupe! The car is finished in its original shade of H1 — Peru Red over 31 — Cinnamon Leatherette. Under the hood is the original 2.0L (1972cc) Flat 4 (engine # 4060705) producing 86 horsepower with help from the Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system. Power is transferred to the ground via its original 5-speed manual transmission (transmission # 5060709). Features and options on this particular car include electric sunroof, ir conditioning, riginal tinted Sigla glass, alifornia equipment and forged alloy wheels with 205/70R14 tires! History of this particular car starts on the West Coast, here the car was built in October of 1975 and delivered new by McPeak Porsche/Audi in Walnut Creek, A on December 24th, 975. The owner of this Christmas present was Larry K. Matlock, ccording to the service book. Mr. Matlock owned the car until January of 1987, hen he sold the car to Mr. Steven Rechstainer with an odometer reading of 55,139 miles. After enjoying for a year, he car was sold to Motorsport Porsche/Audi in Carmel Valley, ho in turn sold the car to Mr. Richard O'Keefe with 86,948 miles. The next owner was Robert Tanner of Watsonville, ho purchased the car in 1995 with 96,025 miles. It was he who took command of a restoration that included a full repaint by Airport Auto Body located in Freedom, A including removal of glass & trim, ew interior by Lotts' Auto Upholstery and a full engine rebuild by Porsche Repair based in Santa Cruz. After 18 years of ownership, he car was sold to Mr. Stuart Louie of Salt Lake City, tah in September of 2013 with a recorded 98,164 miles. The previous owner purchased the car in November of 2014 with 98,862 miles. Service records include the bare metal repaint in August of 1995 including removal of all trim and glass and a base/clear application of the original Peru Red. Following buffing, he car received new weather stripping, mblems and seals. The aforementioned engine rebuild took place in 2003: new pistons, ylinders, lywheel, lutch kit, uffler, asket set, ntake and exhaust valves, njector seals, oints, lugs and more for a total of $3,802.65. A new engine harness had already been installed by Black Forest Industries. The most recent service receipts were from Coachcraft in Fillmore, alifornia where the car was fully gone through in January of 2015; new items include battery, alve cover gaskets, nner/outer wheel bearings, rease seals, il change & filter, oor seals, V boots, ebuilt speedometer, ull front end alignment, ew engine pad, orn contact, /C service, nd engine compression check. The car comes with an exceptional amount of original literature, ncluding a fully stamped warranty booklet/service manual, riginal tool roll, wnership history, nd many receipts. Fully functional in every regard, e are positive the next owner of the magnificent and rare 912E will be able to use it in any way desired, hether at shows or back roads. A Porsche Club of America sticker is proudly displayed in the side window and the next owner can proudly take this car to local events or the popular track meets.
