I have a file folder of variousreceiptsaccrued over the years.. The car is clear of any liens, own the car free and clear I have no information or paperwork on first owner of the car. The second owner bought the car from Cumberland Volkswagen in Marietta Georgia in March 1983. (have the receipt) There are quite a few receipts from this owner. Multiple service receipts. Motor rebuild. Brake rebuild. New Top.The receipts go through 1999 when the car was sold to the third owner. The third owner was an elderly gentleman who lived in Columbus Georgia. He was a car enthusiast and car builder. He owned an auto and RV restoration business and had a large car collection in a building at his home. The VW was one of about 50 cars in the collection. I am the 4th owner of this Bug. I did not do the restoration work, o I have limited knowledge on it. I purchased the car from the son of the deceased third owner. The son told me his father restored the car over a period of 5 years. The gentleman did most of the work himself. It was his 'pride and joy'. I do not know of the Volkswagen shop he used, ut the son told me he dealt with one in Alabama and some parts and work was acquired there. The son told me the restoration was approximately 5 years old when I purchased the car in April 2014. He said the car was stored in the building with the collection for about a year. Due to sentimental reasons the son routinely serviced it but didn't really drive it much.I estimate the total miles on the car to be around 105,800. The mileage before the restoration I would estimate to be around 100,000. This is based on what the son had told me when I purchased the car. I do not have documentation just his word of mouth. The car was driven but only occasionally after the restoration. The speedometer currently reads 5,800 miles. Since I owned the car I have put on around 200 miles. The car will be sold with a Georgia title from previous owner. For whatever reason when theelderlygentleman I purchasedthe car from did nottransferthe title. He followedGeorgia criteria and registered the car in the system. (Georgia doesn't require a title for vehicle of this age).If you are a successful out of state buyer, will supply paperwork; Signed current registration in my name, opy of current tag, Bill of Sale. The car needs nothing but a new loving owner.. Thanks for looking! |
