Description of 1973 Volkswagen Thing Type 181

An original California 1973 Volkswagen Thing Type 181 Safari Convertible
Spent its entire life here in Southern California
Has had a total of four owners in since 73'. The second owner purchasing it in 1981 and writing a letter to the third owner (that I still have). The fourth owner purchased it in 1987 and owning all this time 30+ years. I have records of older registrations to prove ownership.
Remains most of its original Sunshine Yellow Paint. California clean and factory undercarriage. All the original German decals are still in place. The owner try to spot paint a few spots with a bright yellow. Super straight doors and nose. Brand new top with the original side windows. All the interior is stock and in pretty good shape for being original.
Original 1600cc 4 speed manual that is in excellent shape. Brakes / shifts just fine. Can be trusted to be driven anywhere. Has always been taken care of, serviced and maintained. Recently had new tires and serviced. Please understand, this thing has never been restored or butchered up. Has its flaws.
Ready to be driven for the summer. There only original once.....______________________
