This "1953" DeSoto is the true definition of the word survivor. It looks better in person rather then in photographs. That's rare.Up for sale, is a "1953" DeSoto Powermaster. I bought this car in June 2014, that is 3 years for me. When I bought this DeSoto it was located about 800 miles from where I live, here in Philadelphia. Triple "AAA" wanted so much money to flatbed it to my home, I said I will call them back. Then the owner looked at me and, and said Tom why don't you just drive it home, its like a brand new car. I thought for a moment then said it wasn't the way the car looked, my concerns were for safety, such as the brakes and and wheel cylinders. He looked at me and then showed me a receipt for all new 8 - 2 per wheel -wheel cylinders, and master cylinder. I felt safe already. Well I came up wit, Why Not? It was the most adventurous thing I ever did. The car made it home without incident, it drove like a new car. It rained on the way home, I thought are we go, but the wipers worked great and could not hear them at all. The heater was also great, no noise from either blowers motors at all. So ever since I owned the car, I just kept adding, hear and there, and kept it clean. A lot of paper work also comes with this car along with two manuals. The radio and clock are new, all paper work for them also. The upholstery is all original it looks like something out of a time machine. I had it checked out, along with that the front rubber mat which is correct and the back carpets are also correct. The dark green was painted over, but it was done the right way, everything was taken off the car to do it right. It is done in a base coat clear coat system, so this paint is going to stay very shinny for a long time to come. The roof is in the original light green. The front and back bumpers along with 4 bumper guards have been re chromed, and a great job on them a #10 for sure. The 4 tires and the spare in the trunk are "Goodyear" tires, they stay white. I recently did the following, front and rear universal joints, two rear shocks, and a newer canister type oil filter, simply drop in the new filter in the basket, a tune up and oil change with filter, two new left and right outside rear view mirrors, the headlights still have the original bullet lights on the car. They alone bring in a hefty price tag. Last month the car just turned to 20,000 miles on it for me, that's all, and it drives and feels like it should for that amount of mileage. There is a tissue dispenser in the car with the original box of tissues. The box needed some scotch tape because of its age. The trunk mat is in excellent shape with the original jack assembly, light gray. Exhaust system was installed just before I bought the car and its seams are welded, very clean and solid job. I located an original set of four stainless steel window shades for the outside door glass, perfect condition with the part number stamped on them along with the S-18. The Bakeliteparts such as the steering wheel, gearshift know and turn signal knob again, looks like its out of a time machine, not one hairline crack on them. I have to mention this, the person I bought this car from always kept it inside with its car cover on it, the cover stays with the car, although its a bit shabby, but it works. Along with the tune up I put a new set of spark plug wires. I know there is much more I am forgetting that I have done to this car, but it shows it, no matter how small, that's what gives a car a very detailed look. This car is one of a kind, you can look at the weather stripping on all 4 doors, they are as flexibleas the day they were made, but also looks like it too. No rust anywhere. Want to buy a car and just start driving it, you just found one. This car is ready to go anywhere you want to go.Please be advised, once the buyer purchases this car, I'm no longer responsible for anything relatingto the car after the purchase . Its a done deal, I have papers for the buyer to sign to this fact. But whereever you go in this car, you will be the main topic.
