Description of 1955 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 4 door sedan |
1955 MERCEDES BENZ FORMAL EXECUTIVE SEDAN. Fully restored over 12 years ago. Excellent interior restored to its original Mercedes Benz classic interior specs. Runs excellent. Drives very strong with perfectly shifting automatic transmission. Adjustable height suspension for rough to soft ride set up for rough terrain. Everything works. Starts immediately if used often otherwise needs priming or takes several attempts without priming if car sits for months. Exterior paint is respectable to be taken to any social event but not for Pebble Beach or other car shows. A new paint can make the car ready for a show if that's one someone wanted. We used it very sparingly for very selective events such as Academy Awards etc. Has few normal scratches and very small dings that do not prevent us to drive it to any type of social gatherings! Since we have several formal sedans including a Maybach, Rolls Phantom V James Young etc., but on very special occasions we drive this beauty with pride. Registration and insurance is always kept valid. Tires are not steel belted radials but are the ones recommended by the Mercedes Benz. They are like new with less than 1100 miles driven on them in last 6 years or so. Charging light comes on when idling but on choke when car's engine speed goes up a bit, charging light goes away. May need new belt or servicing the alternator. Very respectable, sophisticated classic before Maybach or the classic 60's to early 70's Mercedes 600 Pullman or the non-Pullman came out. This car is a very respectable and an unusual car for someone who stands out among the Rolls Royces and Bentleys. This draws a far more respect and attention than my Rolls Royce Phantom V James Young! Reducing the collection to move to Europe. All cars must go for a fair market price. Willing to accept sensible offer from those who know these cars! Not looking for top dollars but fair price so don't hesitate to make an offer! Thank you for watching and reading the above details. If you have any specific question, please feel free to ask. My staff can provide more photographs of any specific area of the car that you may like us to provide. As a rule, the car is being sold on AS IS and WHERE IS basis without any implied or expressed guarantee or assurance of any kind. We encourage and welcome full inspection and road test of the car. My office is offering to the prospective serious buyers of our willingness to drive this fine classic to the local Mercedes Benz dealer or your choice of Mercedes Benz shop within 10 miles or Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village vicinity for full inspection and evaluations at your expense. Note: It is not a 300SL so please make a note as we have already sold the 1957 300SL. This is a 1955 300B Sedan! A deposit of $1,000 is required within 24 hours of ending of the Auction. Remaining balance must be paid within 3 days after the auction via bank to bank transfer, cashier's/certified check upon verification, cash or money orders. For other arrangements please send details so we can exchange our views. Will assist in your arranged shipper to deliver the car to your shipper as we live on a hill and the car needs to be driven down to the truck. Large truck can come right in front of our gate at our mail box for Car's pick up. We encourage bidders to ask any questions before the bidding! Good luck with your bidding! |
