Description of 1962 Other Makes

Due to too many projects and not enough time we are selling our little Sunbeam Alpine we have named "Sherman".We found him earlier this year as a pretty original survivor-a rust free original black plate California car. He was a running driving car that had a lot of maintenance done to keep him going but needed a major 'facelift" or minor restoration. He also came with his original factory hardtop.
The body was very straight with paint that was badly faded with several minor dings. He was re-sprayed only once in his life, nd the interior was badly worn as the original would be through all the years, ut otherwise a strong and sound car. All the panel gaps are great, nd the doors, onnet, nd boot all shut very nicely, nd no rust could be found. He was wearing his original black and yellow California license plates.
The following has been done;
  • Rebuilt cylinder head (per photo) with new hoses, hermostat and gaskets as needed.
  • Rebuilt brake and clutch hydraulics (by previous owner)
  • Relatively new tires with very little use (by previous owner)
  • Mostly rebuilt front suspension with wheel alignment (previous owner)
  • New carpet, oor cards, nd seat covers (recent)
  • New driver quality respray in his original colour of Carnival Red.
  • New Perspex rear window for the factory hard top.
  • Replaced any missing or sub standard brightwork to at least good driver quality.
The electrics are working well, he engine runs strong with no leaking, moking, r funny noises. A tune up on the duel Zenith carburettors for a little better idling might be desired if you are a perfectionist, lthough its really ok as far as British cars go. The brakes, lutch, nd gearbox all work great, nd the steering is nice and solid. The speedometer cable is a bit "bouncy" so that should be replaced as well. There is no soft top but the frame is attached- my wife and I never drive Sherman with the top on. The motor runs at a very cool 160 degrees all day long.
We have clear title in our name, nd some paperwork dating back to 1982. International buyers are welcome, nd inspections are alsowelcome but need to becarried outprior to auction end.
Sherman is a great little car you can hop in and drive right away. We hope he will go to a good home where he can continue to get the love and attention he deserves. Thanks for looking!
