Description of 1966 Other Makes |
1966 Sunbeam Alpine Series V with a removable hardtop. This car has already been upgraded with the Weber carb that most are being converted to. It recently had a head gasket leak so I just had the head machined and rebuild and installed an entire new head set gasket set from Sunbeam Specialties. The paint is an older paint job with some scratches in an unusual Pearl color. According to the cowl tag the original color of the car was embassy black (color code 1). This car has the largest of the engines available to the Alpine (1725cc) and only the Series V came with a fully synchronized transmission. The side glass is in great shape but there is a crack down the center of the windscreen. New windscreens are readily available. The oil pressure is always nice and high on the scale. The temperature gauge does not work. the pipe that runs to the engine is broken so a new gauge will be needed. As you can see from underneath this is a very solid rust free car. even the spare tire well has not been smashed in as is common on these cars. |
