Description of 1940 Packard Super 8 160 Convertible Sedan - BEAUTIFUL! See VIDEO.

1940 Packard Super 8 160 Convertible Sedan

Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors

Sold by Eastman Motors of Stamford, onnecticut on October 27, 939, his was the 25th Super 8 Convertible Sedan built of just 149 produced during the 1940 model year. Approximately 15 are known to remain today and this is certainly one of the nicest.

After having been enjoyed in Southern California for many years, he previous owner of this car commissioned a full restoration that was just finished in January. Unfortunately, e did not live to see it. Thus, t is now being offered for sale.

The body was stripped and repainted in correct Packard Cream color. All chrome was re-plated, ncluding the window frames. Note that this is an early 1940 160 model as evidenced by the wing windows in the doors that have a manual latch rather than the regulator cranks on later models. New top and upholstery. Leather seats. Dashboard restored with new wood graining and plastic, hich is spectacular. Highly optioned with Deluxe steering wheel. Deluxe Heater/Defroster. Dual spotlights. Dual fog lights. Front Bumper Guard. Dual backup lights. Dual sidemounted spare tires with covers and mirrors. Trunk rack. Cormorant Hood Ornament.

Mechanically, his Packard is excellent. Original 356 cubic inch straight eight engine was re-built by well-known So.Cal. Packard restorer. This was the most powerful 8 cylinder American car on the road in 1940. 165 horsepower. Most Packard collectors agree that the 356 was Packard's finest straight 8. Super-smooth with 9 main bearings and whisper quiet with hydraulic valve lifters. Easily keeps up with modern freeway traffic. 3 speed manual transmission. No overdrive. Electrical system upgraded to 12 volts for trouble-free starting. All gauges work and register accurately. Brand new radial wide whitewall tires.

I have personally owned four 1940 Packards and am in a good position to compare. Ihave driven this car over 150 miles; in the city, n the freeway and in stop-and-go traffic and it runs and drives without fault. Shifts crisply. Good acceleration and that legendary smooth running, owerful Packard engine all combine for a great driving experience. Please see video.

1940 represents the final year of the "classic" Packard styling. With outboard-mounted bullet headlights, unning boards, idemounted spare tires and trunk rack, his one has it all. It qualifies as a Full Classicâ„¢ by the Classic Car Club of America and is eligible for participation in all CCCAevents and tours. Of course it would also be welcome at any Packard Club functions.

A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its rarity and quality. Please bid accordingly.

WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, ORLDWIDE.

Thanks for looking and GOODLUCK!
